Power Supply/Converter Design Engineer - Electrical Engineer I

Job Description:
This is a position in McKinney, Tx, with some occasional work in the Dallas, Tx site, for a power supply design engineer in the Hardware Electronics Center of Raytheon’s Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) business unit to design and develop power conversion technologies for space, airborne and ground military applications.

Required Skills:
• 0-2 years hands-on experience and working with switching power converters
• Experience with designing and testing of analog circuits
• Experience with designing PWB’s
• Familiarity with multiple conversion topologies (Flyback, Forward, Boost, Phase-Shifted-Full-Bridge, LLC, etc.) and experience with simulating and modeling designs
• Experience with LTSPICE or similar simulation tools
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB tools, layout and rout of analog circuits
• Familiarity with developing test plans, procedures and test solutions
• U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
• U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Desired Skills:
Able to work in highly dynamic collaborative environment and multi-discipline team environment
• Experience with designing and testing of AC-DC Converters

• Familiarity with magnetics, i.e., magnetization inductance, magnetization current, leakage inductance, intra-winding and inter-winding capacitance, self-resonant frequency, characteristics and limitations of magnetic cores, core saturation, core loss, high frequency losses, core reset, winding techniques for optimization of desired magnetics, and design of current transformers
• Knowledge of the Mentor Expedition/DxDesigner schematic capture/PCB Layout tools
• Simulation with Sabre desirable
• Analysis tools such as MATLAB, MATHCAD, Ansoft Maxwell and PExpert, Hyperlinx PI and SI
• Digital and analog control design, including components
• Working knowledge of EMI/EMC design and abatement
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)
• Prior or current U.S. Secret Security clearance
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
• 0+ years of experience in analog and power electronics

Required Education:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering
