Payroll Specialist

ASRC Federal is seeking a Payroll Specialist as part of our internal corporate team.

 

This role will be remote but must be within a commutable distance to our Reston, VA office for future hybrid remote and in office rotation. 

 

Key Role:

As part of the Financial Shared Services accounting team, the Labor, Leave, and Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the complete and accurate calculation of timesheets, employee leave, and wages, maintenance and management of all records and distribution of payroll, taxes, deductions, and reporting. Support approximately 7000 employees, 30+ companies, 40+ unions and SCA within a multistate environment. This candidate must have the flexibility to work extended hours and weekends when required.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administers weekly timesheets and weekly/biweekly payrolls utilizing a third-party payroll provider.
  • Calculate bonuses and other manual checks.
  • Import and export timesheets and process necessary adjustments and/or corrections within established processes.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local employment, wage and tax laws.
  • Update tax filing and direct deposit info for employees.
  • Manage help desk tickets and phone inquiries from employees with timesheet and pay concerns.
  • Assist in payroll tax calculations and filing activities as per IRS regulations.
  • Processes requests from HR for retroactive pay and leave calculations.
  • Oversee payroll deductions such as health insurance, tax withholding, 401(K), social security and other salary deductions.
  • Must be familiar with Davis Bacon and Service Contract Acts, including wage determination and health and welfare premiums.
  • Collaborate and support with other functional departments within the organization.

 

 

  • BA/BS in Accounting/Finance or related field
  • At least 2-3 years of progressive, relevant Labor and Payroll experience for a large government contractor required; equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with strong customer service skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and be able to work on routine tasks with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations and creativity in dealing with difficult/challenging situation.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, planning, and leadership skills
  • Must have computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Deltek Costpoint, Cognos, and ADP experience required.
  • Must have the flexibility to work extended hours and weekends when required.
