Parts Approval Engineer

The Whole Life Engineering Directorate (WLED) is made up of several disciplines whose main objective is to influence hardware and systems early in their life cycle to assure effective operation, reliability, maintainability and economical ownership by the customer and end user.

We have an immediate need for Parts Approval Engineers in our Woburn, MA location. The Parts Approval Engineer will chair the Parts Material Control Board (PMCB) meetings in accordance with Raytheon Standard Practices; participate in Configuration Control Board (CCB), Integrated Product Team (IPT), & Cross Business Team (CBT) meetings; submit the required program reports; develop and implement a Parts Material Control Plan (PMCP). The Parts Approval Engineer will ensure the Parts Material Control Plan (PMCP) is deployed and executed. The Parts Approval Engineer will ensure that all risks, including obsolescence, associated with the parts and COTS Equipment that are selected and approved for use on a given program are mitigated effectively such that they do not impact the program performance. In addition the Parts Approval Engineer may also provide Obsolescence support including investigating and reporting on obsolescence issues, determining potential mitigations and maintaining various databases. The Parts Approval Engineer will have financial reporting responsibilities, including periodic earned value inputs, workload planning, and support proposals as required.

This position can be a salary grade level G08 or G09 based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibilities list in the position.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 4 years of related engineering experience.
  • Strong component knowledge

Desired Qualifications/Skills:
  • Must currently possess or be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Qualified R6Sigma specialist
  • EVMS Level 2 Certification (budget management)
  • BOE Developer Certification (proposal support)
  • Background in component engineering, including guiding component selection.
  • Experience with a wide application of technical theories and concepts related to system logistics/sustainment/production activities/obsolescence.
  • Experience in preparing customer and/or management level briefings.
  • Experience with program and project tasks, including managing cost and schedule as well as associated reporting.
  • Experience in development of technical and cost proposals.
  • Proven multi-disciplinary leadership and technical skills to engage peers, superiors, and subordinates across the various IDS CBTs and IBTs.
Required Education:

BS/BA in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Technical Discipline or 8+ years of experience relevant to this job description may be considered in lieu of a degree. (Two years related work experience can substitute for one year of education)
