Operations Analyst & Researcher

Job Description

Provides military subject matter expertise to assigned programs.


The Operations Analyst and Researcher directly supports the Assessment Cell serving as an operational analyst and researcher. Operations Analysts are uniquely skilled personnel who apply operational planning and analytical methods to provide recommendations to military leaders to assist in decision making; they are problem solvers. Operations analysts properly define the problem, gather facts and make necessary assumptions, generate potential solutions, develop a methodology

for solving the problem, analyze the problem using a variety of analytical techniques, clearly communicating the complex problem to the decision makers, and recommend a solution. The Operations Analyst will conduct periodic assessments of security forces advisory efforts and recommend improvements and decisions to the NSOCC- A/SOJTF-A staff and Commander at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels. The Operations analyst will employ experience, education, and skills to assess and improve the headquarters assessment processes and methods for improving the effectiveness and autonomy of indigenous forces. Operations Analysts will assess qualitative and quantitative data to identify spatial and temporal trends. They will also develop approaches to more effectively allocate or employ limited advisors and resources toward advisory and assistance efforts.



a. Familiar with the Total Army Analysis process.

b. Graduate of School for Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) or Graduate degree in Security Studies or National Security Strategy. Can also be a graduate of the School of Advanced Warfighting - Marine Corps University.

c. Graduate of advanced schooling in professional military institutions or civilian equivalent.

d. Minimum of three years prior military experience working with Special Operations or

experience conducting analysis and recommending solutions in direct support of Special


e. Ability to respond rapidly and sufficiently to changing requirements, unexpected

contingencies and other challenging situations.

f. Excellent oral and written communications skills.

g. Adept at communicating their results in a clear and concise manner to senior leaders.

h. DoD Active Secret Clearance



8-10 years of related experience supporting military operations.


This position will deploy with U.S. Forces, and therefore is subject to Deployed Contractor training and regulations, and USCENTCOM Individual Protection and individual / Unit Deployment Policy. Successful candidates will be subject to initial and recurring physical examinations and medical testing, and meet fitness for duty requirements in accordance with the CENTCOM Policy and related modifications and regulations


This position requires assignment or deployment to international location(s).

  1. Computer skills including MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) and Internet Explorer.
  2. Ability to respond rapidly and sufficiently to changing requirements, unexpected contingencies and other challenging situations.
  3. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  4. Adept at communicating their results in a clear and concise manner to senior leaders.
  5. Fluent in the English language
  6. Willing to work a 12-hour shift per day.

  7. Working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable, with long hours, exposure to weather, dust and hazardous harsh conditions.

  8. Able to don all required personal protective gear and physically execute assigned duties.

  9. This position is unarmed
