Open Source Data Manager - TS/SCI Clearance w/ Poly

Job Description

The data manager acquires, controls, and catalogs large scale, complex datasets for our customer’s mission. The position requires a highly detail oriented individual who understands the complexities of data movement and curation.  The data manager will also be responsible for analyzing the customer’s current dataset catalog to identify areas of weakness which will then drive additional targeted dataset acquisition.

Manages the design and development of computer software applications.

1. Determines data that needs to be collected and resources to be used.
2. Organizes, implements, and enforces correct data collection policies and procedures.
3. Trains employees on proper data collection methods, tools and equipment.
4. Establishes data collection and quality standards and ensures they are met.
5. Ensures the data management system is operating correctly. 
6. Troubleshoots for solutions in all data-related problem areas.
7. Documents procedures for data management processes.
8. Develops methodologies for data collection and evaluation relevant to each project.
9. Performs analysis to determine adequacy of data collection and evaluation processes.
10. Ensures data management systems is compliant with all relevant laws and regulations.
11. Evaluates data management system to improve operational procedures.
12. Develops and disseminates data catalog reports upon request.
13. Performs presentations at meetings


14. Ensures that proper records and other documentation are maintained.

15. May also perform complex software development and design work.


16. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.


17. Participates in special projects as required.




Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.


8-10 years of related software development experience, including supervisory experience.


Proven ability to multi-task, independent, self-starter.


Posesses excellent mathematical abilities and organizational skills.


Demonstrates excellent analytical and critical thinking skills and pays close attention to detail.


Displays strong management and leadership skills.


Effectively communicates verbally and in written format with technical and non-technical personnel.
