NOC Technician Tier 2 - TS/SCI w/ POLY

Jacobs is currently seekinga NOC Technician Tier 2 to join their team at their customer site in theCulpeper, VA area. This position requires shift and the approximate hours of this position is 10PM-6AM (Mid-shift).

The networkoperations center (NOC) technician provides surveillance and IP networkoperations troubleshooting. They identify, troubleshoot, and resolveincidents in multiple and complex local area network (LAN), wide area network(WAN), customer networks, Intranet and Internet and other data communicationsystems. This position acts as information distributors and customerrepresentatives. They operate, maintain, and manage telecommunicationsfacilities. Provide project management and systems integration for voice anddata communication systems; supervise installation of these systems; and,provide maintenance and support to customers after installation.Specializations include data communications, TCP-IP networks, Local AreaNetworks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), COMSEC/TEMPEST, facsimile,cable-to-modem communication, RF (including satellite) communicationcapabilities, and repair to least replaceable

  • Active TS/SCI W/ Poly Required
  • Typically requires an Associate degree in a computer field and seven (7) years of related experience. Progressive relevant training and/or certification may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement.
  • Experience in routing protocols, TCP/IP protocols, security requirements and network communications.
  • Experience with network monitoring and reporting tools and technology
  • Experience with CISCO and Juniper Routers, Switches, Firewalls, WAN Protocols (EIGRP), QOS, LAN and Data Center Protocols (Spanning -Tree, Fabric-enabled technologies, VoIP to support Data, Voice and Video)
  • Experience with Voice Over IP (VoIP)
  • Familiarity with DMVPM
  • Familiarity with general Unix OS functionality
  • Experience adapting to changing environments and coordinate large scale implementations using available resources
  • Experience working helpdesk functions
  • Shift work is required: Day, Swing, or Mid shift


  • ProfessionalLicense or Specialized Training Networking in CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS, and/orother IT Technology are preferred
  • ProfessionalCertification in ITIL Foundations is preferred
  • Proficiency in theuse of MS Office product suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint
Essential Job Functions

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 75 lbs, bend, kneel, and climbladders. Must be able to trace cable under raised floors, and above dropceilings.

Work Environment:

General Office environment.The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadlinepressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork andcooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across theCompany and Customers.

Equipment & Machines:

General office equipmentincluding PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and othermiscellaneous office equipment.


Attendance is critical at alltimes. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday throughFriday. However, times and days may vary depending on businessrequirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks andbe available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situationoccur.
