Network Specialist

Job Description
* Provides technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations
* Research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific, and general computing applications. Set operational specifications and formulate and analyze software requirements. May design embedded systems software
* Review System and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups. Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access
* Plan, implement, upgrade, or monitor security measures for the protection of computer networks and information
 

Responsibilities:

 

The Real Property and Programming Specialist provides a critical role toward maintenance and use of real property financial and physical characteristic information, specifically aimed toward accountability and capital improvement planning. The Real Property and Programming Specialist collects, verifies, enters, and analyzes real property data for the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Air Force interests on Kennedy Space Center, and the Florida Annexes. The Real Property and Programming Specialist works independently and with other organizations to create construction cost estimates, condition assessments and collect environmental information for assembly in project programming documents. Maintain and use existing and future data systems, procedures, forms, and handbooks.

 

  • Analyzes completed facility improvement projects and records information into the Air Force database.
  • Provides facility programming roles in documenting solicitation of facility project funding for MILCON and SRM programs while liaising with various base agencies to determine scope, cost and justification for base infrastructure and facility project requirements.
  • Collects facility improvement project information and assembles five year infrastructure plans. The incumbent works closely with company and customer infrastructure engineers to objectively strategize future capital improvements. Plans are reviewed on a periodic basis and posted to the company portal web page. Use commercial office software as well as the Air Force's Automated Civil Engineer System (ACES) Program Management (or follow on AF mandated systems), and Real Property modules. Provide input and produce reports from existing databases or spreadsheets relating to periodic data calls.
  • Implements the execution of physical inventories of buildings and others structures. Results and discrepancies are analyzed leading to adjustments to real property records.
  • Conducts and/or validates annual physical boundary inspections of applicable Air Force installations. Identify and seek solution to unauthorized physical encroachment of installation boundaries.
  • Assists with information gathering, assembly and draft preparation of real estate documents including leases, licenses, permits, easements, and rights of way. Terms and conditions of executed documents are entered in ACES and used to prepare renewal and status updates to the Supervisor and/or customer. Conducts annual in-and out-grant compliance inspections.
  • Maintains a facility manager program, including identification and initial training facility managers. Schedule, conduct and record annual refresher facility manager training for all facilities located on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and respective Florida Annex sites. Identification data is entered in ACES and local database applications. Works closely with facility space utilization specialists and reconciles customer facility assignments. Reconciles DoD agency assignment and financial appropriations annually.
  • Records changes in facility space utilization affecting use and categorization of Air Force owned real property per Air Force and DoD directives and instruction. Using specified requirements and format, reports underutilized or not utilized facilities per the Stuart P. McKinney Homeless Act. Maintain DD Form 1354 tracking log. Generate and sustain audit reports. Maintain electronic street address map and information systems to assign physical addresses to each facility. Assist with the implementation of linear asset segmentation. Identify facility networks when required. May be asked to support hurricane damage assessment and recovery processes.

Requirements
Requirements
* BA/BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related IT or related discipline
* Three or more of experience in a client-server environment and in server systems administration and analysis
* Experience working with complex systems administration, database administration, or data center maintenance
* Experience working with complex system implementations and organizational processes to include maintaining system documentation
* Experience maintaining the integrity and security of servers and systems
* Certified as: MCSA -- Microsoft Certified System Administrator or VCP -- VMware Certified Professional.
* IAT Level II baseline certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce improvement Program, (or achieve within six months of TOA of hiring)
* Active secret clearance required
