Network Engineer, Staff

Evaluates, designs, documents, installs, implements, tests, performs problem isolation and resolution. Monitors, tunes, sets standards and maintain a range of computer network components and systems. Performs these functions across most of the network facilities including physical media, protocol stacks, hubs, routers, bridges, gateways, digital servers, line drivers, telecommunications transport facilities, mainframe VTAM, NCP and related software and hardware, and network management components. Provides client consulting and training on the interfacing and use of the network facilities. Begins to plan research, evaluate, and recommend new computer network equipment and technologies. Utilizes monitoring, performance analysis, network management, software and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems, gauge network performance, and trace data and protocol activity. Devises solutions to moderately complex operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment. Requires Bachelors degree (in Computer Science, Math or Engineering) or equivalent, and two to four years of related experience.

Become an integral part of a diverse team within ManTech's Corporate IT Organization. Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, mission oriented Network Engineer that wants to help Secure the Future.

The Staff Network Engineer will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of one or several of the following disciplines: Local and Wide Area Networks, VOIP Networks, Security Appliances, Storage Area Networks, and Wireless Networks. ManTech manages a fast paced Cisco infrastructure environment consisting of 500+ devices and 3,000+ users.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Install, support, and configure Cisco VoIP Networks and supporting systems
  • Install, support, and configure Cisco routers and switches as well as all necessary security applications
  • Monitor, evaluate, and solve potential network performance issues
  • Manage Cisco infrastructure-related and other network requests and problems
  • Support customers and employees via email, telephone, video conference and face-to-face interaction
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to the installation, administration, and maintenance of network infrastructure
  • Working internally with a team to support ManTech in technical trouble isolation and resolution
  • Some system maintenance and upgrades will occur during established off-hour maintenance windows
  • Travel to remote offices may be required in cases of emergency repairs or network upgrades
  • Requirements:

  • Requires Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Engineering or other related field
  • Five years of related experience
  • Eligibility for DoD Top Secret security clearance and special accesses
  • Experience with working with vendor support (warranty replacement of defective equipment, etc)
  • Excellent people-interaction skills and the ability to communicate solutions to non-technical end users
  • Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines
  • Ability to work well within a team of IT professionals; taking and following direction and completing tasks and assignments in a timely manner with a positive attitude
