Network Engineer

Description

The Network Engineer will be responsible for supporting NAVSEA client with developing System of Systems (SoS) architecture for Frigate Shipbuilding Program. They will provide engineering and design activities to support complex decision-making issues as well as review technical and engineering drawings, provide updates, and recommend system configuration changes.

The Network Engineer will be responsible for the coordination with NAVSEA and SPAWAR Technical Points of Contact to discuss specific design requirements and details. They will collect, analyze, and evaluate historical data and expert opinion to provide a basis for assumptions, methodologies, and estimate results; translate functional and technical requirements into design concepts and provide detailed design inputs to system requirements, specifications, and drawings as well as review system design documentation for compliance with applicable requirements, NAVSEA and SPAWAR instructions, and statutory and regulatory policies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain an understanding of the basics behind modern networking: Switches, Routers, Servers, Firewalls, QoS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS
  • Provide engineering knowledge to help design, validate, document, procure, and test network infrastructure components
  • Provide specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret Clearance at a minimum
  • 3+ years of experience working in Network Engineering design and management
  • CCNA or equivalent
  • Security+ Certification within 6 months of hire
  • Have working knowledge of modern network devices, virtual networks, virtual machines, and Datacenter infrastructures
  • Effectively communicate with various team members, customer, and external vendors.
  • Ability to research, recommend, and report

Desired Qualifications

 

  • Cyber Security experience and knowledge
  • Experience implementing and troubleshooting complex IP routing scenarios (Including BGP & OSPF, MPLS VPNs, Layer2/Layer3 VLANs)
  • CCNP, CCDP, JCIA or JNCIS
