Network Engineer

Description

SAIC is seeking a Network Engineer in San Diego, CA.

 

Job Duties:

  • Provide system life cycle systems engineering support for our SPAWAR and SPAWARSYSCEN San Diego customers. 
  • Attend and present in technical meetings, report on technical progress, prepare briefs, and provide presentations. 
  • Focused primarily on network and storage devices (router/switch/filer), but will include software and hardware efforts required to sustain currently fielded COMPOSE/CANES systems.
  • Analysis and modifications to replace commercial off the shelf (COTS) components that are end of life (EOL), modifications to support new interfaces to other systems, and modifications to existing systems driven by customer requirements.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance, either remotely or on site. 
  • Analyze failure data, trouble reports, and other U.S. Navy Fleet communications to identify current system deficiencies. 
  • Propose solutions, conduct peer reviews, and work with production engineers to implement solutions. 
  • Create and update engineering documentation and manage solutions through a formal configuration management process.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Team (IPT), Technical Working Group (TWG) and engineering/design review/meetings.  
  • Up to 10% of travel accepted.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience 

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience or 8 years of related experience with a completed GED/HS.
  • Experience supporting DoD C4ISR systems in an enterprise level IT environment (ISNS, CANES, ADNS, SCI Network, CENTRIXS, ORT, etc.)
  • Current CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CASP Certified  
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance. Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI.
  • Must be able to become IAT 2 certified within 6 months of higher date.  ITA 2 certification include CCNA, MCSA, MCSE, Linux+, VCP, etc.
  • 3 years experience with network switches, routers, and filers
  • 2 years experience in the design, analysis, and support of local area networks
  • 2 years cumulative directly-related experience in the design, analysis, and support of computer systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2003/2008/2012 Server and all common server and workstation applications
  • Working knowledge of US Navy ship and shore network systems is a plus!
