Network Engineer 4 IRES

The ideal candidate works in close coordination with the Network Design Engineering Lead, project managers, and other service area representatives to coordinate team network design and implementation efforts. The candidate serves as a project technical expert and provides technical contribution to facilitate project completion in order to satisfy contractual requirements according to high-level architectural designs. He or she will mentor network engineering team members, review documentation to ensuring engineering quality, and maintain responsibility for projects and tasks assigned to the team. The candidate will communicate activity status through multiple venues, and provide quantitative project reports to the Network Design Engineering Lead.

Primary duties to include the design, configuration, installation, and test of IT network and boundary protection devices and systems at MDA local and remote site locations. Recommended expertise to include Cisco, Palo Alto, and TACLANE encryption devices. Candidate will be responsible for conducting site surveys, installing and configuring network and boundary protection solutions; acting as program liaison; and assisting in data collection and validation efforts at each location. Secondary duties to include Network Design support for the IT Services Team; developing and providing detailed designs with supporting implementation, test, and transition plans. Candidate will also be responsible for ushering proposed system changes through the Configuration Management process to successful implementation for transition to the O&M RBA teams. Individual may require up to 50% travel in support of MDA remote site integration activities. Designs and plans network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of proposed network designs. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing such as routers, switches, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

Basic Requirements: High School Diploma (or GED) with 16 years general experience or an Associate's degree with 14 years general experience or a Bachelor's degree with 12 years of general experience; must include 8 years related experience and 5 years in management or leadership roles.

Candidate must possess a CompTIA Security+ certification or DoD 8570.01-m IAT Level II approved certification. Network technical experience with a solid understanding of Cisco internal and external routing protocol. Must have an active DoD Secret clearance.

The successful candidate will be assigned as an employee for Jacobs or one of the following teammates companies: HX5, GCS, ERC, MEIT or Aerodyne.

Desired: Local and long-haul data transmission mediums experience (RS-530, T1, OC-x, etc.). Possess Cisco certification such as CCNA or CCNP. Demonstrated team building, leadership, & mentoring / instructing skills. Ability to perform technical validation of network designs in accordance with industry best practices and DoD policies and guidelines. Knowledge of architecture frameworks (i.e, DoDAF, TOGAF, etc.). Experience in requirements development and management. Experience w/multicast technologies. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
