Required Education: Bachelor of Arts (BA)/Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.

Required Experience:  Eight (8) + years of network and vulnerability assessment experience, five (5) of which must have been within the Intelligence Community.


Federal Data Systems is seeking an intelligence analyst to support our Fort Meade, MD. partner as a Network and Threat Support Specialist. Qualified and accepted candidates will work on-site, analyzing, mapping, and discovering vulnerabilities, intrusions and threats in computer network systems.

Functional Responsibility:

The Network & Threat Analyst will:

·         Perform in-depth analysis of computer and network intrusion incident data and in-depth technical analysis of network traffic with the goal of detecting malicious activity.

·         Perform long-term and time sensitive, in-depth technical analysis of malicious code, analyze the inner workings, and develop defensive countermeasures.

·         Analyze network transports and application layer packets and identify packet details.

·         Identify anomalies at the packet level and develop signatures to support various collection platforms.

·         Be considered a Subject Matter Expert in one or more fields appropriate to Intelligence Analysis or Computer Networking technologies.

·         Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for working groups and meetings with partner organizations and agencies.


·         Demonstrated analytic ability to discover unknown, suspicious or exploitation activity.

·         Capable of providing briefings of intrusion set activity to partner organizational agencies.

·         Knowledgeable about all forms of reporting and experienced with creating each product type, and thus be able to organize training for other team members on analysis, tools, or reporting.

·         Expertise in performing technical analysis for exploitation of activities from unknown or suspicious origins.

·         Highly skilled with relevant analyst tools and databases used by the customer organization, and communications skills that include the ability to provide formal documentation of analysis and/or research results.

·         Demonstrated expertise in analyzing intelligence information and technical data, analyzing exploitation opportunities, interpreting analytical results, writing and editing skills at a technical/professional level, and managing internal and external customer relations.

·         Demonstrated experience working through the SIGINT and/or other intelligence disciplines' production processes, to include tasking, researching, processing, reporting, and disseminating of collection information, or final products.

·         Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret technical data through knowledge of technologies and network topologies.

·         Demonstrated expertise in documenting information and processes and gathering intelligence information of an identified threat activity through SIGINT and/or other intelligence disciplines, Internet, and other research means.

Preferences: Experience working with GrapeVine is highly desired.

Working Conditions:

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are normally set from Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. Additional details on the precise hours will be informed to the candidate from the Program Manager/Hiring Manager.

Physical Requirements:

May be required to lift and carry items weighting up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the work day.

Background Screening/Check/Investigation:

Successful Completion of a Background Screening/Check/Investigation will be required as a condition of hire.
