Mission IT Systems Administrator

Job Description

The Mission Information Technology Systems Administrator (MITSA) is the Field Service Rep (FSR) for Airborne Mission Networking (ABMN) who performs testing, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the Specialized Automated Mission Suite/Enhanced Situational Awareness (SAMS/ESA) system and the KU Spread Spectrum (KuSS) system to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the systems, both in-garrison and deployed. The FSR creates and implements processes and procedures to ensure the provisioning and maintenance of the systems is consistent with customer requirements, industry best practices and information assurance controls.  

The FSR is the first responder for supported systems, providing Special Operators the battlefield awareness needed for superior lethality. If you are this person, we want to hear from you. 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  •  Performs daily pre-flight checks and configuration while in-garrison and deployed
  • Performs daily post-flight follow-up with aircrews document system issues and initiate repairs as required
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance inspections to ensure optimal systems performance
  • Daily customer interaction to instill confidence in systems and professional services
  • Assists ABMN engineers with research, testing, and implementation of new hardware and software loads to include COTS, GOTS, and SAMS-ESA unique software such as Jockey, ServicesToo, Bus Driver, and Short Bus
  • Maintains SAMS-ESA and KuSS systems with current configurations and monthly mission product updates for global distribution
  • Performs inspections and operational checks of all hardware and software prior to installation
  • Acts as the Subject Matter Expert in defining and creation of SOPs, TTP, and other support documentation to be used in the training of SAMS-ESA and KuSS users on hardware and software capabilities and operation, locally or deployed locations
  • Assist with all related configuration, asset, problem and knowledge management efforts related to ABMN
  • Maintain personal readiness to ensure ability to deploy at all times.
  • Works with IT professionals to coordinate efforts, resolve cross-team issues and communicate changes
  • Tracks incidents and problems in approved incident management tools (Remedy, Jira), providing the customer with information, trend analysis, and service improvement recommendations
Education

Bachelor Degree in an electronics field or other related discipline; or Technical School Certificate related to computer and/or radio systems. Equivalent military training and operational experience will be assessed in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree

Qualifications
  • 2+ years’ experience relative to position requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Specific experience providing IT services on multiple OS platforms for Microsoft and/or Linux/Red Hat
  • Working knowledge of Performance Flight Planning Software (PFPS) and Improved Many On Many (IMOM)
  • Must be able to identify, analyze and troubleshoot a wide range of complex technical computer and network related problems effectively and efficiently
  • Experience in developing SOPs and TTPs for Integration & Testing and Operational assets
  • Must possess knowledge of SIPRNET and NIPRNET networking hardware and software procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of SADL and PRC-117G radios, crypto loading, and radio/crypto configuration
  • Experience with configuring Routers and Switches
  • Understand relational database structures and possess knowledge of basic SQL commands
  • Possess knowledge of and experience applying computer security policy, procedures, and protective measures
  • Soft skills: Excellent communication skills; tact, effective listening, follow through, detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to share technical knowledge in a training environment
  • Maintain a Quality Assurance mindset with attention to detail
  • Must have a Top Secret-SCI security clearance
  • DoDI 8570.01m Certification required (IAT-I compliant): Minimum Security + CE
  • Must be able to obtain passport within 60 days of hire for OCONUS travel requirements
  • Must be able to lift over 50 LBS
  • Must pass deployment physical and Class-3 Flight Physical

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Former flight experience
  • Knowledge of development, testing and documentation procedures for in-flight systems highly desired
  • Advanced knowledge of C2 systems, Radio Frequency and Datalink communications highly desired.
  • Special Operations experience providing IT support to USSOCOM weapons systems highly desired
  • MCSA/RHCSA or other advanced certification desired
  • CCENT, CCNA or hirer Cisco certification desired

WORKPLACE

  • The work is primarily performed on the flight line and deployed locations
  • On-call reach back support and possible short term TDYs
  • Position requires an annual 90-day OCONUS deployment in support of ABMN
  • Annual 90-day deployment rotations will be to an undisclosed OCONUS location
    • Note: Annual deployment locations may or may not be the same
    • Salary uplifts paid depending on location
