Northrop Grumman, Rolling Meadows, Multi-Spectral Solutions (MSS) Organization is looking for a passionate candidate to lead a high performing multi-disciplined team of Scientists and Engineers in developing the next generation of aircraft survivability systems.

The MMS organization is responsible for a collection of technology development projects and programs coordinated primarily through military service branch laboratories and research agencies. These projects include technical development of IRCM systems, optical targeting and surveillance, LADAR systems, threat detection and warning systems, laser and focal plane array technologies. A strong technical background with familiarity in stated technologies is required. The successful candidate will align management responsibilities to two roles; technical leadership and personnel management.


Technical leadership responsibilities and requirements include:
Monitoring EV performance of several programs

Personnel management responsibilities will include:
Responsible for team of approximately 15 engineers/scientists
Setting, reviewing, & evaluating employee goals
Providing timely, constructive, sincere performance feedback on a regular basis
Executing performance appraisal activity
Facilitating team meetings and employee communications
Coordinating training & career development for team members
Generate staffing assignment and resolve staffing conflicts
Forecasting and managing work load for each team member
Supporting talent acquisition activity
Working with Human Resources to mediate & resolve personnel issues

MSRMM


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM field.
  • Minimum of 7 years related experience to include 2 years of Management or Team Leadership experience.
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Proven demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience in Technology development projects.

  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills required for briefing project status to internal and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Management or Leadership experience in an Aerospace or Defense oriented engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition department.
  • Ability to obtain SAP/SAR clearance.
  • MS or PhD in a STEM field.
