Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Manager Software Engineering 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida. Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector is looking for a Software Functional Manager for Strategic Systems Common Stores Management System. This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities for 15-20% of their time, as well as the individual's program responsibilities for 80-85% of the time.

The technical responsibilities of the job are to develop, modify and maintain software for airborne applications related to Stores Management using software engineering best practices & standards and participate in the full life-cycle of software development to include C++ coding to flight/safety critical coding standards, unit testing and software integration testing, software requirements and design documentation and support for program reviews. The manager will work closely with Responsible Software, System, & Test Engineers and Development Test Labs to ensure a testable product is being developed. Duties also include design influence to increase product reliability and test coverage. Make recommendations for design, process improvements, and data collection. Ensure consistency and quality of SW Products and alignment with standards such as Universal Armament Interface (UAI) and MIL-STD-1760 Aircraft/Store Electrical Interconnection System.

Management duties will require tasking and coordination of approximately 10-15 engineers, and process and resource coordination with functional homeroom management. The manager will prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result, and provide direction to determine priorities to achieve goals. The manager will make decisions that impact the organization's credibility, operations and services. They will comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.

The manager will be responsible for assessing staffing needs, current as well as projected and working with the respective IPT to address those needs. He/she will also be responsible for supporting recruitment activities including the creation of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers. He/she will work with the program software manager and IPT leads in establishing personal program and functional goals as well as performing performance evaluations and merit adjustments for subordinates. The candidate will provide their subordinates with career development recommendations, mentoring, discipline, as necessary. He/she will acquire the necessary computers, equipment and tools to enable their subordinates to perform their work. He/she will generate training plans based on the program and their subordinates' needs. The manager will provide their group with regular flow down of company and organizational status and appropriately represent and be a spokesperson for the Software Engineering organization to their group, assigned project, and the company.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5+ years of direct related experience in software development

* Must be familiar with all phases of the software development life cycle

* Lead or management experience in a team environment

* Proficiency in C++

* Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance and Special Access Program clearance required

Preferred Qualifications:

* MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering

* Experience with Agile methodologies

* Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite

* Experience with the Stores Management Systems

* Preferred candidates will have demonstrated leadership of engineering personnel on a Northrop Grumman Corporation program to include software architecture oversight.

* Active DoD Secret and Special Access Program Clearance
