Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Mgr Mfg Engineering 1 based out of San Diego.

What You'll get to Do:

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager1 reports to the Rancho Carmel Manufacturing Engineering Department Head and is responsible for the supervision of salaried professionals. Area of work concentrates predominantly in leading a team dedicated to supporting and optimizing Solumina, the electronic shop floor control system utilized at Rancho Carmel and adjacent facilities. Specific focus is on continuous optimization of the software and its functionalities as well as general support of manufacturing efforts as they pertain to the Solumina software. Oversees process improvement projects aligned with business strategies. Contributes to the completion of organizational projects and goals.

Requires interface and coordination with other Production support departments as well as regular interface with multiple levels of management. Advanced knowledge of Shop Floor Control Systems is desired. Background in supervising technical disciplines is a plus. Candidate must have proficient writing, presentation, and team skills as well as the ability to conduct presentations to upper management.

Oversees projects and task assigned to the organizational group performed by non-exempt and/or exempt employees. Becomes involved only when required to assist in meeting schedules or to resolve technical or operational problems. May accomplish results through lower level supervisor or exempt employees.

Executes department procedures that typically affect individual employees within own department. Policy management: Interprets and executes policies and procedures that typically affect subordinate organizational units. Recommends modifications to operating policies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's + 6 years of exp: Master's + 4 years of exp OR 10 yrs of experience in a Mfg environment
  • 6 Sigma / Lean professional certification and/or proven experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a DOD Secret clearance
  • Working experience in Solumina or equivalent electronic shop floor control system

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in relevant STEM degree or other related technical field
  • Prior experience leading Lean and 6 Sigma initiatives
  • Working experience leading a team focused predominantly in optimization of Solumina or an equivalent electronic shop floor control system
  • Project planning and management experience for moderately complex tasks
  • Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
  • Knowledgeable in data structures and database programming
