Mgr III Supplier Quality Engineer

Raytheon Missile Systems is seeking a Fielded Supplier Quality Manager (Manager III).

If so, the Fielded Supplier Quality Manager role supporting Supplier Quality within Raytheon Missile Systems (Southwest and West) is the opportunity you have been seeking!

The Fielded Supplier Quality Manager will perform supplier facing quality engineering as well as manage 12-15 fielded Supplier Quality Engineers, all of which are fielded outside of Tucson. Our Fielded Supplier Quality Manager will work across Hardware Management Teams, Supply Chain, Operations and Engineering activities to analyze, control, and improve product quality.

NOTE: This opportunity can be located in Tucson, AZ or Los Angeles, CA.

Prime Responsibilities Include:

  • Analyze product performance using statistical methods to understand root cause and identify significant variances to the technical data packages
  • Travel to various make centers and supplier sites, must be prepared for 50% travel as a responsibility.
  • Perform analyses of nonconformities to identify root cause, establish effective containment and elimination plans, and develop/monitor corrective actions
  • Assure clear identification, physical control and competent disposition of nonconformities
  • Facilitate corrective actions, closed loop process controls and continuous improvement methods to improve product/process predictability and capability
  • Participate in Program Reviews, Supplier Reviews, and Technical Interchange Meetings
  • Analyze and approve proposed engineering, planning changes, test plans, and procedures
  • Participate in design reviews, process change reviews, qualification test reviews, as well as Test Equipment verification and validation
  • Coordinate / publish metrics for Corrective Action Board

Required Skills:
  • Ten (10) or more years of related Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or related engineering experience
  • A Demonstrated Team Manager: Previous leadership experience interacting (leading teams, reporting, updating stakeholders, executing resolutions) at various levels of the internal organization & with customers
  • Experience leading as a Field Manager and working with Engineers in the field and/or on supplier site
  • Must be prepared for 50% travel as a responsibility to various Raytheon make centers, and to supplier sites.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance issued by DoD

Desired Skills:
  • Twelve (12) or more years of related Quality Engineering, manufacturing or related engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional process improvement teams
  • Competency in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and ability to interface with various engineering disciplines
  • Experience in development/usage of data/metrics to drive improvement
  • Ability to understand drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials, process discipline and tool control
  • Existing Secret Clearance issued by DoD
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems
  • Six Sigma, ASQ Certifications
  • Level 5 Mission Assurance Certification (Internal candidates)
  • Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping
  • Experienced in Product/Process Failure Modes & Affects Analysis, Regression Analysis
  • Knowledge of Measurement System Analysis and Design of Experiments
  • Knowledge of Performance Specification and Requirements Management Practices
  • Engineering development experience
  • Able to facilitate cross-functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g. 6-sigma, lean manufacturing)
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well with customers, suppliers, and in a team environment

Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement. Employment is contingent on other factors, including, but not limited to, background checks and drug screens.
