Mgr II Engrg Technical Suprt

This position is for an Engineering Technical Support Manager on Air Traffic Systems programs being executed in Marlborough, MA within IIS. The individual will be responsible for the program quality activities and the success of the program. The individual will provide support in various aspects of ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction, and will occasionally be called upon to sell off products to both internal and external customers. The individual will be responsible for Mission Assurance activities including initial program quality planning, organizing and execution of quality tasks to ensure the Tailored Quality Management System (QMS) requirements are incorporated, ensuring independent objective evidence is compliant to the contractual requirements, and maintenance of records. This position will require working knowledge of audits, testing, performing root cause analysis/corrective action, and reporting. The individual will be working closely with Supplier Quality to ensure subcontractor processes are compliant and product requirements are met. The individual is an integrated team member to direct, influence, and monitor the program activities. The individual will also work with property personnel and engineers to ensure effective and efficient methods are used for inspection and evaluation of products. Where appropriate, the individual will advise on changes and their implementation, and provide training, tools, and techniques to enable others to produce high quality products.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Review customer requirements and ensuring they are met by flowing down the requirements other functions and stakeholders,
• Be able to read and interpret Government contracts and Statements of Work to determine which Quality requirements apply to contracted work scope,
• Conduct audits to make sure that production and quality processes are met,
• Be able to plan and execute required Quality and Mission Assurance activities to meet contractual and internal business requirements,
• Understand the requirements of AS9100:2016 and ensure compliance,
• Prepare documentation in accordance with established reporting procedures,
• Partner with Engineering personnel, as required, in process improvement and completing refurbishment activities,
• Conduct final product verification and sell off to internal and external customers,
• Understand inspection techniques used in the refurbishment of military equipment, including initial, in-process and final inspection,
• Validate quality processes by establishing quality attributes, measuring production, documenting evidence, determining operational performance qualification, and writing/updating quality assurance procedures,
• Monitor performance to quality requirements by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports to advise on the performance of the quality management system,
• Maintain and improve product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; and collaborating with other functions to develop new manufacturing methods and processes.
• Assure the configuration management requirements are compliant throughout the production life cycle.

Required Skills:
8+ years of experience and increasing responsibility in the areas of hardware, auditing, inspection, integrated supply chain, and/or operations
• Must be a US Citizen with current/active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain in a reasonable amount of time.
• Significant experience in Six sigma, root cause/corrective action, and process improvement methodologies
• Experience interpreting part and assembly drawings, CDRLS, and Document Review
• Experience using tools for dimensional measuring, such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, etc.
• Experience in the various requirements associated with the Lab operation
• Working knowledge of AS9100:2016
• Excellent ability to work in a team environment
• Experience in performing product and process audits, first article inspection, physical configuration audits and quality assurance testing (internal & formal)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in inspection and the various inspection methodologies
• Expected to work overtime when required
• Experience in interfacing with the US Government customer and/or other customers
• Must be willing and able to do limited travel


Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of business and management principles and practices
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques
  • Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Hands on experience in repair and maintenance of military systems

Required Education (including Major):
  • Applicable Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (Bachelor Degree = 8 years of applicable additional experience)
