Come join our team! The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a Technical Writer to support the MFC Business Division.

INL is recognized as the leading national laboratory for DOE-NE, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstrating capabilities needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure, and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel design, development, and fabrication through post-irradiation analysis.

Writers at MFC are responsible for researching, writing, and coordinating in-depth editing of scientific and technical reports, proposals, procedures, specifications, and manuals for programs in a variety of disciplines. They use input from engineers, scientists, operators, and originators to generate new text and graphics. Other responsibilities include the following:

  • Analyze documentation requirements for major projects and programs; define scope and coordinate with management and staff to determine depth and detail of documentation work
  • Develop writing and editing solutions for complex documents
  • Represents the organization within other departments to solve editing and writing problems
  • Coordinate preparation and production of writing projects. Work with facility personnel, text processors, graphic artists, and printers to ensure quality and adherence to budgets and schedules
  • Follow all procedures and standards that relate to the creation and modification of company documentation.

Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) "L" Security Clearance

Bachelor's Degree and 0-2 years of relevant experience

Required Skills:

Technical writing and editing

Exceptional communication

Ability to work well in a team environment

Strong computer skills (i.e., Windows, MS Office, etc.)

Selective Service Requirements
