Raytheon is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern with the technical and communication skills needed to support ongoing programs at our Springfield, Virginia location.
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, the candidate will support engineering activities and senior engineers on programs. Tasking may include design and analysis of fixtures and mechanisms, creating detail fabrication drawings, mechanical lab testing, rapid prototyping and assembly, report writing, contribution to presentations, and support to design reviews. Candidates must be professional, self-starters, possess a positive attitude, and work well with the engineering and technician team.
Fundamental engineering skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Good oral and written communication skills
Experience and/or coursework in solid modeling CAD, preferably Solidworks
This position requires the ability to access systems that contain information restricted to US Citizens based on certain Federal Government contractual requirements.
Course work in Mechanical Engineering
Course work in Finite Element Analysis
Ability to work in a team environment
Experience with mechanical assembly
Experience with laboratory testing
Existing security clearance is desired
Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a technical degree in the area of Mechanical Engineering.
A GPA of 3.0+ in a 4.0 grade scale is desired. Please include your transcript with your resume. You must have obtained sophomore, junior, or senior status as of summer 2017.
This position can be for a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Internship based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
·Freshman status – must have completed 30 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Sophomore status as of Summer 2017.
·Sophomore status – must have completed 60 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Sophomore status as of Summer 2017.
·Junior status – must have completed 90 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Junior status as of Summer 2017.
·Senior status – must have completed 120 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Senior status as of Summer 2017.
