Summary:

Asa MechanicalEngineer,you will provide support for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC).Chenega Worldwide Support (CWS) was recently awarded with a five-year contractto work in various locations in the DC area. NAVFAC is looking for a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to providesupport in the US government. This opportunity holds a great work/life balanceon a 40-hour work week.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Designand technical competence in developing and the production of completeConstruction Documents, including drawings and specifications, for new andrenovation projects.
  • Responsiblefor the professional quality, technical accuracy, and the coordination,including inter-discipline coordination, of all designs, drawings,specifications, and other services furnished by the CWS under this contract
  • Otherduties as assigned

MinimumQualifications: (Toperform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor’sDegree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 5years of specialized experience in mechanical and plumbing schematic design anddesign development, evaluation of new and existing commercial facilities,industrial and health care facilities similar to the building types prevalentin the Customer’s Area of Responsibility.
  • Experiencein the following:
    • AUTOCAD
    • Designand reviewing of main Air and Water Side and steam Mechanical systems.
    • Mainmechanical applications software for sizing ductwork and piping systems.
  • InterimSecret clearance required

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:

  • Abilityto obtain Interim secret clearance
  • Havegood or master skills and experience in AUTOCAD.
  • Abilityto estimate design effort and assist in negotiations withArchitectural-Engineering firms and General Contractors.
  • Abilityto review contractor submittals and respond to requests for information (RFI's).
  • Abilityto design DDC control systems including production of the sequences ofoperation, point lists and control diagrams.
  • Abilityto travel.
  • Abilityto provide engineering solutions to problems when requested by the Government.
  • Familiaritywith both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build delivery methods for projects, beable to provide technical leadership/mentorship to junior engineers/designers,and to review other mechanical engineers' work for code compliance andconstructability
  • Workingknowledge in design and reviewing of main Air and Water Side and steamMechanical systems.
  • Workingknowledge with main mechanical applications software for sizing ductwork andpiping systems.
  • Workingknowledge of the SpecIntact and ability to produce and edit specification fordesign projects.
  • Workingknowledge of the latest UFCs, UFGS, NFPA, International Mechanical and PlumbingCodes.

  • The employee will normally work ina temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure toelectronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas ofoperations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborneparticles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
