Mechanical Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking Engineers to join the Technology Sector. This position will be located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Sustainment Engineering and Technical Center (SETC).
SETC provides sustainment support for the US Air Force B-2 Bomber, E-3 Sentry, Airborne Warning and Control System, and numerous other Government platforms. Our team members complete engineering, reverse engineering and logistics solution efforts to solve complex obsolescence problems and ensure warfighter supportability.
The selected candidate will work in a dynamic people-focused environment where he/she will interact with users, customers and other developers. Our diverse work environment is comprised of nearly equal parts multidisciplinary engineers and other technical experts. Team members interact will interact with external Government customers and civil partners on a regular basis.
Responsibilities:
  • Conductsanalysis of mechanical components and structures within aircraft maintenance programs, determines effectiveness and creates written recommendations forincreasing efficiency and effectiveness
  • ExecutesReliability Centered Maintenance and Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis assessments of avionics systems and complete airframes to improve aircraft sustainment
  • Ensures recommendations provided to customer comply with Northrop Grumman, Military and Civil engineering standards to include Air Traffic Association MSG-3 and other FAA guidance
  • Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy
  • Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Generates reports and presents to Government counterparts, defense contractors, and other cross-functional organizations
Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have at least one of the following:
    • A Bachelor's degree in a mechanical engineering discipline with a minimum of2 years of engineering experience.
    • A Master's degree in a mechanical engineering discipline with a minimum of0 years of engineering experience.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct experience with Air Transportation Association MSG-3 maintenance planning and evaluation
  • Exposure to maintenance requirements developmentand analysis IAW FAA Advisory Circular 121-22C and MSG-3 Revision 2015.1.
  • Box and airframe level Failure Mode Effects Analysis experience
  • Previous experience with automated processing software specific to MSG-3, Reliability Centered Maintenance, and Failure analysis
  • Experience with modified 707 series aircraft
  • Background in aviation/equipment maintenance and/or aircraft operations
  • FAA Flight Engineer certificate with a jet or turboprop rating, or valid FAA airframe and power plant (A&P) license and/or Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT).
  • Experience with reading and understanding technical data (e.g., Technical Orders, Engineering Drawings, parts lists, Bills of Material, Engineering Specifications, etc.) and detailed knowledge
