Mechanical Engineer III (PEO Soldier)

Job Description


What You’ll Get to Do:

This is a contingent position to support Army PEO Soldier located in Fort Belvoir Va. The  Mechanical Engineer III (PEO Soldier) will plan and lead major assignments. May oversee or supervise less senior staff. Recognized expert, establishes operational plans and implements strategic goals. Responsible for improving upon existing processes (continuous improvement), communicates across the organization and with external stakeholders.  Resolves difficult or unique problems requiring extensive investigation.  Provides guidance, coaching and training across functional teams.




More About the Role:

  • Provides technical/management leadership on major tasks or assignments,
  • Establishes goals and plans that meet project objectives, provides senior level technical expertise or specialty engineering for the entire engineering lifecycle in mechanical engineering and one or more other engineering disciplines such as: electronic engineering, electrical engineering, thermal engineering, optical engineering, materials engineering, quality engineering, aerospace engineering, aeronautical engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer engineering, interoperability analysis, system standards, military operations (ground, sea, air, and space), program analysis, requirements analysis, program planning, and cost analysis.
  • Performs top level design, development, fabrication, testing, installation, trouble-shooting, directs and manages large scale, complex programs, sets and maintains overall direction for a program to control overall scope, budget, and schedule for complex, multi-project programs; and communicates with managing directors and client executive management to ensure that critical program related issues are addressed, coordinates efforts with other functions -
  • Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
  • Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. supports system and subsystem design reviews for programs including but not limited to Systems Requirements Reviews (SRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) reviews, Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and In-Service Reviews (ISRs)
  • Conducts, documents, and updates technology assessments for PEO Soldier programs, including but not limited to paper studies, software assessments, hardware assessments, and modeling and simulation assessments.




You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Engineering or related technical  field,
  • 10 + years’ relevant experience
  • Active Secret Clearance






These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Ideal candidate possess 2+ years of demonstrated ability to supervise engineering support teams providing overall direction for a program; to control overall scope, budget, and schedule for complex, multi-project programs,
  • 2+ years of experience researching, planning, designing and developing mechanical products and systems, 
  • 2+ years of experience supporting system and subsystem design reviews including but not limited to Systems Requirements Reviews (SRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) reviews, Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and In Service Reviews (ISRs), and 
  • 2+ years of experience conducting, documenting, and updating technology assessments for programs, including but not limited to paper studies, software assessments, hardware assessments, and modeling and simulation assessments.  Recent experience supporting PEO Soldier highly desired.
