Raytheon Company’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Mechanical Engineering Directorate (MED) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system equipment. The MED uses state-of-the-art tools, processes technology and Raytheon Six Sigma principles.

The Antenna and Sensors Department designs some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world.

This position can be an E02 or an E03 grade level based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibilities required for the position

Job Description:
The Antenna and Sensors Department is seeking a motivated and driven Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience in hardware design and analysis. Develop new hardware, perform engineering analyses, and complete detailed mechanical drawings. Senior engineers will be required to make sound technical decisions, provide supervision and leadership to junior engineers and manage to cost and schedule requirements of assigned tasks. This position will require interfacing with other mechanical engineers, designers, and structural / thermal analysts, as well as electrical and manufacturing engineers.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Required Skills:
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design, analysis or manufacturing
  • Experience in thermal, structural, or electronics packaging design
  • Experience with CREO (Pro-E) and PDM
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Excel and Power Point
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with the Multi-Function Radio Frequency System (MFRFS) Product Line
  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with radar systems, including antenna or pedestal design
  • Ability to apply mechanical engineering knowledge to solve complex design problems and make sound technical decisions
  • Experience leading other junior engineers within an integrated product team environment
  • Experience successfully managing to cost and schedule requirements for assigned tasks
  • Ability to multi-task and successfully manage multiple activities within a program at any given time
  • Ability to interact well with other team members across various disciplines, including electrical engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management
  • Ability to identify and communicate technical issues that may impact cost, schedule, or other aspects of product design
  • Strong analytical design and drawing skills including tolerance analysis
  • Strong presentation and technical writing skills
  • Experience with proposal development
  • Working knowledge of military and commercial design, materials, and process specifications
Required Education:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
