Raytheon Company’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Mechanical Engineering Directorate (MED) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system equipment.The Mechanical Engineering Directorate uses state-of-the-art tools, processes technology and Raytheon Six Sigma principles.

Job Description:

You will perform Mechanical Design Engineering duties related to the design, documentation, fabrication, assembly and test of high reliability electronic systems. Working as part of an integrated product team your design opportunities will include electronic enclosures and the packaging of custom and Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) electronics within those enclosures for both land and sea based systems.You will gain experience with the integration of Commercial Off The Shelf electronics into military enclosures.You will perform trade studies for innovative solutions that provide best value to our customers. You will engage in the technical management of suppliers to include support of supplier fabrication issues.At times you may be responsible for technical task leadership.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience in design and documentation and fabrication/assembly of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Broad based experience in hardware engineering and/or production
  • Experience with configuration management systems.
  • Experience with 3-D modeling software.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required

Desired Skills:

  • Masters of Science Engineering degree
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Task Leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience on DoD programs.
  • Experience with GD&T.
  • Experience with program cost and schedule monitoring and reporting, esp. EVMS (Earned Value Management System).
  • Experience with Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) ProEngineer Creo and Product Data Management (PDM).
  • Experience with COTs hardware selection and integration

Required Education (including Major):

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline
