Material Handling Laborer

Position Overview:

GVI, Inc., a DoD contractor industry leader, is seeking Material Handling Laborers.  Applicants will perform a range of warehouse functions such as receiving, picking, packing and shipping. Applicants with current security clearances and knowledge of the US / DoD N-ERP inventory management systems preferred. 

Position Responsibilities:

Applicants will perform clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods and receiving incoming shipments.

Receiving duties typically involve the following:

  • Verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records,
  • Checking for damaged goods,
  • Ensuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment, and
  • Preparing and keeping records of goods received.

Warehousing duties typically include:  

  • Applicants will be responsible for verifying materials against receiving documents,
  • Noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages,
  • Routing materials to prescribed storage locations;
  • Storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods,
  • Rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials,
  • Examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage,
  • Removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment.

Duties will include transporting or storing materials, manually loading or unloading freight cars, trucks, or other transporting devices; unpacking, shelving, or placing items in proper storage locations or transporting material.

Position Requirements:

  • US Citizen;
  • Active Secret Clearance;
  • High School Diploma/GED;
  • Valid US Driver’s License;
  • Ability to frequently lift 50 pounds;


Positions located in Philadelphia, PA.

Hourly pay rate is $13.92 plus up to an additional $4.27 per paid hour to be used towards benefits.
