Material Handler


SAIC is seeking a Material Handler to support our TACNET Program in Norfolk, VA. 

The ideal candidate will perform various administrative and warehouse operational tasks pertaining to the TACNET equipment/systems and other DOD subsystems to effectively and economically to meet customer requirements.
Candidate will assist in the processing, packaging, and storage of supplies, materials, and equipment. 

The candidate shall document, track and report all applicable requirements. This includes but is not limited to all equipment supported documents, shipping documents, weekly shipping and receiving reports and any other items as directed by the customer. 

Operational processes include managing inbound freight to multiple distribution centers, ship and receive orders, stock inventory, and load and unload courier trucks. Perform duties using a safety-conscious attitude, improving safety knowledge of all warehouse employees.

  • This position will require access to classified information. US Citizenship required. 
  • Candidates may be subject to a security investigation and must be able to meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a minimum of Secret clearance issued by the U.S. Government.
  • Must either possess or be willing to acquire US Government security clearance and U.S. Passport.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. The position is in the warehouse and requires some heavy lifting. Other duties as necessary (cleaning/sweeping warehouse, maintenance, special projects).
  • HS Diploma is required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarization with logistics records concerned with quantity, cost, and type of material received, in stock, or issued.  
  • Experience in verifying material received to determine irregularities in order; inspects articles and rejects defective ones. 
  • Knowledge in preparing inventory records and reports, and familiar with exploring discrepancies in stock counts.
  • Have working knowledge of MS Windows Office suite of applications, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
