Manager II, Factory Hardware Quality

The Hardware Quality Manager is responsible for leading a team of Hardware Quality Engineers, including employee performance development, staffing, proposal Basis of Estimate Development, support programs ensuring products delivered to customers meet specified technical requirements developed by using approved processes and procedures. The Hardware Quality Manager must be able to work within a cross-functional, matrixed organization in which there is close interaction and collaboration with our Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) customer, Program Quality, Operations and various Engineering disciplines.

The Hardware Quality Manager will establish a relationship with the DCMA and provide quality engineering support and expertise within Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements. Provide education and knowledge on the use of quality tools to minimize Government Corrective Action Requests (GCARs). Apply quality engineering skills to develop and deploy effective and efficient methods for verifying and accepting processes and products, including the use of quantitative and qualitative tools to reduce abnormal affects contributing to Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ).

The Hardware Quality Manager will use and implement analytical tools and methods to: improve product design; minimize inspection; solve fabrication problems; complete such specialized quality functions as data preparation, analysis, and reporting; develop techniques and methods; support process improvements; complete special investigations and audits; take preventative and corrective actions; audit manufacturing and test data; support design reviews to ensure that quality is engineered into the product; and develop product acceptance techniques and plans.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 6 years related managerial experience
  • Minimum of 8 years as a Quality, Manufacturing or Engineering professional with hands-on experience with high-reliability, state of the art systems
  • Minimum of 3 years establishing and managing metrics and developing plans for course correction
  • Ability to write clear presentations and technical reports, including proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with statistical process control
  • Experience with project/program bid and proposal development
  • Experience with project management and risk and opportunity management
  • Experience with AS 9100, QS 9000, ISO/TS 16949, or ISO 9001 quality management systems, and experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Broad knowledge of Quality processes (CAB, MRB, CCB, FRB, etc.) and experience in Quality Engineering
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodology, lean manufacturing, process optimization and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge and application of business acumen/etiquette
  • Experience with highly regulated, state of the art product fabrication, manufacturing and assembly
  • Experience with metrology, measurement tools and practices
  • Strong organizational, collaborative and communication skills
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to support external customers and suppliers
  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

  • Familiar with lean manufacturing concepts such as FMEA, DFMA, process mapping, and SPC
  • Ability to balance relationships built on partnerships and required performance
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple internal and external teams to provide best value solutions to customers
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Technology, or Quality with 8 or more years related work experience.
Will consider a Master’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Technology, or Quality with 6 or more years related work experience.
