Logistics Engineer, Sr.


SAIC has an opening for  a Senior Logistics Engineer to perform a combination of systems engineering and product support life-cycle management to achieve the desired outcomes for program management. Senior Logistics Engineer must develop appropriate logistics strategies and requirements as well as understand the cost and logistics infrastructure/footprint. The Senior Logistics Engineer will work directly with program managers and will communicate with equipment manufacturers and customer logistics organizations.

Logistics engineering technical duties:

  • Review contractual commitments, customer specifications, or related information to determine logistics or support requirements
  • Maintain appropriate records, prepare reports, and coordinate logistics activities with internal and external organizations
  • Determine logistics support requirements, such as facility details, staffing needs, or safety or maintenance plans
  • Conduct deployment studies, monitor inventory, and analyze requirements to develop strategies to achieve preferred delivery times and deployment rates
  • Develop and manage logistics information databases for programs
  • Propose logistics solutions for customers
  • Develop Integrated Logistic Support Plans
  • Perform system support planning
  • Develop fielding plans
  • Develop post-implementation review plans
  • Coordinate logistic activities with management and stakeholders
  • Acts as professional liaison among project management, sustainment management, bid management, and equipment manufacturers
The Senior Logistics Engineer works effectively both independently and in a team environment to develop logistics requirements that are documented, actionable, measurable, testable, traceable, related to identified program or project needs or opportunities, and defined to a level of detail sufficient for system design while balancing the conflicting requirements and processes of various stakeholders. The Senior Logistics Engineer conducts planning, research, development, and review of acquisition documents and other studies.


  • Master’s Degree and 5 years of experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of experience in a related discipline.
  • Must possess 5 years of experience in the appropriate specialty area.
  • Must be eligible to obtain DHS Suitability
  • Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
