Logical/Physical Implementation Engineer

Jacobsis currently seeking a Logical Implementation Engineer to join their team attheir customer site in the Reston, VA area.

The LogicalImplementation Team Engineer works within various organizations ensuringnetwork systems and components are successfully integrated. The job functionrequires detailed understanding and prior hands-on experience of EIGRP, OSP,BGP/MP-BGP, and MPLS routing protocols. Receipt of project tasking, review ofapproved engineering design, validation of router/switch/firewall includingcomplex scripts, network implementation, testing and troubleshooting, and updatingleadership team. The candidate must have experience in allfacets of network installations, which includes the physical placement ofconduit, CAT5 and fiber optic cable, wall jacks, hardware, racks andcommunications equipment as required. Also includes but not limited to:surveys, installing other conveyances, pulling and terminating cable,determining and implementing required pin outs, installing and configuringequipment chase, cards power supplies, racks, patch panels, etc., testing anddocumenting installations, dressing and labeling cables, racks, patch panels,etc.

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly Required
  • Educationand Experience: BSdegree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college oruniversity and ten (10) to fourteen (14) years of progressive, relevantexperience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline andeight (8) to twelve (12) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree ina computer or system science discipline and four (4) to seven (7) years ofprogressive experience
  • Experience in cable installation andcable types (Copper, Fiber)
  • Prerequisiteknowledge of the latest Cisco and Juniper routing and switching platforms (forService Provider Core/Edge, Datacenter, and Branch devices).
  • Familiarityof Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs.
  • Knowledgeableof Type 1 (Government) and Type 2 (Commercial) Encrypted Cryptographic devices.
  • Hands-onexperience with Firewall appliances (VPN Concentrator and Adaptive SecurityAppliance) is preferred.
  • Mustbe able to support after hour implementations
  • CCNACertification desired, not required
Essential Functions
Work Environment

General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadlinepressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork andcooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across theCompany and Customers.

Physical Requirements

Most work will bedone at a desk or computer.

Equipment and Machines

General officeequipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, andother miscellaneous office equipment.


Attendance iscritical at all times. Needs to be available to work overtime during criticalpeaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should thesituation occur.
