Linux Systems Administrator

Description

SAIC has an immediate, funded opening for a Systems Administrator. This position is principally a hands-on position that requires experience in Windows and/or Linux systems administration. The Systems Administrator must possess the knowledge and skills to manage, and maintain a multi-level processing and storage system designed to hold unique, highly classified data. Knowledge of data center standards and regulations as well as an understanding of network planning methodologies, and knowledge of routing, ports, protocols, and transmission of data is also needed. The Sys Admin will be required to provide our customer with sound technical advice on the design and use of network, storage, and processing hardware and software and any applications required by end users. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support day to day operations and maintenance of servers, network, and workstations
  • Install new hardware such as switches, servers, storages, firewalls, and routers
  • Cabling current and new setups including copper patching, fiber patching
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary
  • Decommission and remove old hardware, including uncabling, removal from racks and disposing the equipment
  • Assist with inventory tracking and management and Update documentations
  • Responsible for installing Red Hat Linux operating system and related software packages, experience with Red Hat Linux file systems and application administration required.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to support the operational aspects of the systems infrastructure.
  • Responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining system boot recovery plans and procedures in the event of an outage. Regularly test disaster recovery plans and procedures for all Linux systems.
  • Responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining data security plans.
  • Responsible for applying Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) settings to Linux systems.
  • Systems Administration experience managing complex and distributed infrastructures.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree and 8+ years of work related experience or, Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years of work related experience or, in lieu of Degree 10+ years of work related experience.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required and able to maintain necessary clearance
  • CompTIA Security+ or DOD 8570 qualifications required
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux
  • Experience with deploying, supporting, and troubleshooting both networking and system hardware.
