Linux Administrator, Senior

Job Number: R0062522

Linux Administrator, Senior

The Challenge:

What if you could use your hardware and software skills to improve the technology supporting data science and analytics? With so much relying on complex systems, a skilled systems administrator can be the difference that makes a project successful. We’re looking for a systems administrator who specializes in Linux server and systems administration with a solid background in containerization and understanding of DevOps to help us build, configure, and maintain a state-of-the-art data analytics environment for the US military.

As a systems administrator on our project, you’ll install and configure the new server environment to meet the requirements of a reengineered database environment supporting the data science and analytics effort. You'll apply industry standards for maintaining security in accordance with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). You’ll help customers overcome the challenges that come with data migration, database reengineering, analytics, and data discovery with DevOps tools like Chef and Puppet. You’ll provide your customers insight into their network through monitoring and performance management. Your technical expertise will be vital as you evaluate and recommend new Web component-related software and tools. Your experience and communication skills will come in handy as you guide your clients through migration planning and implementation. This is an opportunity to broaden your skillset into areas like Hadoop, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes or tools, and data science and analytics. We focus on growing as a team, so you’ll share your expertise through leadership and mentoring as you help the team work through challenges and develop new methodologies. As a technical leader, you’ll identify new opportunities to modernize the network to help your customers meet their needs. Join our team and solve daily challenges as we improve sustainable processes, patching, and maintenance of the new environment from the ground-up on this new environment.

Administer virtual machines, Linux and Windows operating systems, and applications for advanced closed analytic network. Maintain hardware devices and software, perform installation of new software tools and analytic libraries, and manage a large database server environment used for data science and analytics and cluster analytic services, including Hadoop and Spark. Support the analytic team to ensure maximum availability and optimal performance of all servers, including installation, administration, maintenance, patching, backup management, performance tuning, and monitoring. Perform backup and recovery services, as required.

Empower change with us.
