Legal Assistant/Paralegal I (Document Management Analyst)

Job Description

CACI has an immediate need for paralegals for a long-term project assisting large scale white-collar fraud investigations in support of CACI's contract with the DOJ, Criminal Division.

The Criminal Division’s Fraud Section (FRD) plays a unique and essential role in the Department’s fight against sophisticated economic crime. The Section is a front-line litigating unit that acts as a rapid response team, investigating and prosecuting complex white-collar crime cases throughout the country.

Because many of the FRD Section cases’ targets and subjects involve the use of private law firms, the Section’s investigations are frequently confronted with issues concerning the applicability of attorney-client privilege and work product doctrine over materials obtained during the investigations. These privilege issues can be complex and require a review of these materials through a “filter review” (or “taint review”) process, whereby attorneys who are walled off from the investigation team review potentially privileged materials to determine whether a valid claim of privilege may be asserted.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Provide legal and administrative assistance in the course of fraud investigations.
  • Index, track, and control document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery).
  • Communicate with other DOJ components, Federal agencies, and others as required in the course of investigation and litigation.
  • Review documents for relevance and privilege according to establish guidelines and criteria.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US Citizenship required).
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.00 GPA.
  • A DOJ MBI is required to begin employment. For this position, CACI has the ability to provide clearance sponsorship for qualified individuals.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Role also requires basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision; and ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure.
  • Automated litigation support experience valued.
  • Ability to perform quality control analysis and report any issues with data.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform tasks accurately and quickly.
  • Customer-focused, congenial, professional attitude for working on-site with government clients.
  • eDiscovery experience and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks similar to the duties and responsibilities described.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays, often with little to no advance notice.

  • We’ve been named a Best Place to Work by the Washington Post.
  • Our employees value the flexibility at CACI that allows them to balance quality work and their personal lives.
  • We offer competitive benefits and learning and development opportunities.
  • We are mission-oriented and ever vigilant in aligning our solutions with the nation’s highest priorities.
