Legal Assistant II

Job Description: (Supports Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) , U.S. Dept. of Justice)
The Legal Assistant II for the DOJ - Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) is responsible for a variety of tasks to support the review, certification and production of legal documents related to immigration proceedings. The Legal Assistant II will act as the point of contact for employee questions, provide instruction and assistance to staff with the legal review and analysis of records of proceedings involving a range of immigration related issues. The Legal Assistant II will review case materials to become familiar with questions under consideration.
Additionally, the Legal Assistant II will:
• Serve as the in-house legal resource for trouble shooting the progression of a case to ensure that all relevant documents are properly certified.
• Perform quality control and ensures work meets contract requirements for quality and delivery schedules.
• Instruct and help train and provide guidance to staff in all phases of the document digitization process (prep, scan, qc, reassembly, data entry, etc.)
• Functions as expert operative on all equipment/processes, and provides training for operating, maintaining and cleaning equipment.
• Monitor and report on work flow processes, and help assigns tasks based on priorities and skills to ensure timely completion of work.
• Work with Supervisor and Upper Management to ensure deadlines and project goals are met.
• Assists with problem resolution or risk mitigation of work flow, files, and cases as needed.
• Acts as primary point of contact for employee questions.
• Tracks and reports operational metrics.
Qualifications:
Preferred Qualification: Bachelor degree preferred.
