Lead Test Engineer

Job Description

ASRC Federal Space & Defense (AS&D), a subsidiary of ASRC Federal Holding Company, is seeking to identify a Lead Test Engineer in anticipation of the successful award of the Launch Systems Engineering Systems Engineering & Integration (LE SE&I) II contract.

 

Locations of operation will be at Los Angeles AFB, CA.

 

In conjunction with the Lead Mission Assurance Engineer, advises program and customer leadership on unique launch and rocket system component test requirements for design and operational test programs. Provides guidance to department personnel on test procedure development, test conduct and report generation. Performs complex test operations to meet program requirements. Prepares program schedules and budgets in support of program requirements. Provides test engineering support to launch systems in all phases of the acquisition life cycle through the transition to operations.

 

* Provides assistance with test and evaluation related strategy, processes, and artifacts, tailoring of applicable standards, and other acquisition support to new programs or major updates to existing programs.

 

* Establishes verifiable requirements for launch systems, and ensurse the appropriate use of test as a verification and validation technique for programs during the requirements definition phase.

 

* Provide assistance with high-level and detailed test planning, test architecture, test design, test execution, test and data evaluation, anomaly and deficiency, resolution, and residual risk assessment for operationally realistic and system performance testing.

 

* Provide assistance with detailed test planning, including the requirements for engineering models, simulations, test beds, and special test equipment for all organizations involved with system testing.

 

* Ensures design for testability during reviews and audits.

 

* Provides input to updates of T&E regulations standards, and guidelines.

 

* Provide T&E training and tutorials for internal Aerospace staff and for technical workshops.

 

* Provide T&E mentoring to SITO personnel.

Requirements

Knowledge, experience, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Thorough knowledge of complex launch systems and launch processes
  • Experience with and knowledge of launch system mission definition, development, and execution to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Understanding of launch systems operations
  • Strong facilitation skills and ability to work with others in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to work on their own initiative and prioritize tasking to support company business goal achievement
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing schedules and priorities
  • Ability to manage development of launch systems offerings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities (a written sample may be requested)
  • Ability to communicate effectively to company leadership and customers to gain support or resolve concerns
  • TS/SCI security clearance

Preferred:

  • Launch vehicle development or operations experience
  • In-depth expertise in space and launch systems, including payload integration
  • Experience with government agencies
  • Experience with EELV programs

Education/experience/certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in scientific/engineering/aerospace discipline from accredited institution and 12-15 years relevant experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7 years of experience with complex aerospace mission integration and projects

Special remarks regarding work environment

  • Travel estimated to be approximately 25%
