Lead DevOps Engineer

ECS is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to work in our College Park, MD office.  

Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our team in supporting a large Federal Government program with the following roles and responsibilities

The Cloud DevOps Engineer is responsible, with our established team of SMEs, change managers, integration engineers, system engineers and business analysts, for the design, development, automation, and monitoring the infrastructure architecture in AWS. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for evaluating current environment and identifying opportunities to automate deployment and software release management.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant hands-on experience including design, development automation and monitoring of the business infrastructure architecture for web-based applications of similar technology stack, size, and scope to this requirement
  • Minimum three (3) years’ relevant experience leading teams of at least three (3) junior DevOps engineers on complex application development work
  • Relevant hands-on experience collaboration with one or more external development teams
  • Relevant hands-on experience working in DevOps environments for agile projects
  • Active AWS Certified Developer or SysOps – Associate certification
  • Strong oral and communication skills (speak fluent English) and experience interacting with senior leaders within an organization
  • Experience with DevOps tools and technologies like Jenkins, Chef, and/or Ansible

In order to be successful in this role, we expect that qualified candidates will have the following skills, experience, and credentials:

  • US Citizen and must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or similar preferred
  • Senior level devops experience with more than 5 years of infrastructure monitoring, and automation
  • In depth knowledge and hands on experience with the full range of AWS cloud service providers/solutions
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solutions Deverlop or SysOps certification (or demonstrated ability and willingness to achieve certification shortly after hire)
  • Proven experience in assessment, evaluation, and documentation of client environment, infrastructure, processes, and operations
  • Demonstrated experience automating production cloud workloads
  • Demonstrated Hands on experience developing solutions with cloud orchestration tools
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash, Powershell, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of IP Networking including VPC's, VPN's, VRF, DNS, load-balancing, and firewalls.
  • Demonstrated experience with the Software Development Lifecycle
