Law Enforcement Systems Trainer

Job Description


What You’ll Get to Do:

DOJ/OCIO is seeking part-time trainers to support the Tribal Access Program (TAP), which allows selected federally recognized Tribes access to FBI CJIS criminal databases for both criminal and civil purposes.  These positions require a background in criminal justice and training and knowledge of FBI CJIS systems to include NCIC, NICS, III, N-Dex, NGI and state systems such as Nlets.  Experience working with the Tribal/local/state/Federal law enforcement community is preferred but not required.




More About the Role:

  • Develop training materials and curriculum for Tribal criminal and civil agencies that will access FBI CJIS databases
  • Present live and recorded webinars
  • Provide one on one training on specific topics as needed
  • Provide on-site training in both classroom and hands-on formats
  • Travel to Tribal Nations
  • Develop follow-up reports that clearly outline programmatic and/or technical issues and actions to resolve
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Participate in team training
  • Coordinate all logistics and administrative details for training




You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • At least 5-7 years of experience conducting classroom, webinar and one on one training
  • Knowledge of FBI CJIS systems and CJIS Security Policy
  • Experience using Microsoft PowerPoint to develop presentations
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience using Webex, Adobe Connect or other similar products to provide webinar presentations
  • Ability to travel regularly
  • Ability to take direction, work independently and be flexible with change
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to craft action items and follow up in a timely manner
  • Ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing




These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • In-depth knowledge of the CJIS Security Policy
  • Experience working with OpenFox Messenger
  • Experience working with federally recognized tribes
  • Desire to work with under-served populations
