JOB DESCRIPTION

****This position is contingent upon contract award****

SOS International LLC (SOSi) is actively seeking full-time Language Enabled Analysts to provide comprehensive translation, transcription, and interpretation services to support the objectives of the U.S. National Security Strategy (NSS).
Languages required to fulfill these objectives include but are not limited to: Arabic (various dialects), Dari, Pashtu, Persian Farsi, Acholi, Chechen, Fulani, Hausa, Kanuri, Russian, Sango, Somali, Swahili, Tamachek, Urdu, and Turkish. Linguists with the ability to provide more than one of these languages is highly preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Translate, transcript, and interpret written and spoken communications from the Specified Contract Required Language(s) (SCRL) to English, as well as from English to the SCRL
  • Accurately translate, transcript, and interpret communications in the target language that will include a wide range of styles and subjects to support MEDEX, CELLEX, DOMEX, and Operational Briefings
  • Additional work may include summarizing documents, reviewing translations, and ensuring correct context of written text in two or more languages


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid, active DoD SECRET clearance- TOP SECRET/SCI clearance is preferred
  • Pass preliminary and mandatory annual language testing as required for the respective position and category. A minimum 3/3 (ILR scale) proficiency is highly preferred
  • Ability to comprehensively understand all parts of speech within a standard dialect and maintain an extensive vocabulary to avoid requests for further explanation and/or paraphrasing
  • Ability to consistently and accurately follow conversations between educated native speakers, radio broadcasts, news stories similar to wire service reports, oral technical reports, and public statements regarding non-technical subjects
  • Ability to interpret, translate, and transcribe conversations and intelligence activities from and between the SCRL and English
  • Provide accurate idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax and expression from English to the SCRL and vice versa. Linguist must be able to interpret/translate narrative using colloquial slang words and phrases
  • Accurately provide translations and interpretations within correct cultural and ethnic context, as well as provide advice to the RA regarding the cultural and ethnic significance of statements, conversations, situations, documents, etc
  • Accurately perform document exploitation, including scanning, researching, and analyzing foreign language documents for intelligence information
  • Supplement interpretations and translations with pertinent information specific to a variety of professional fields (medicine, science, engineering, law, etc.). Linguists must be able to identify and extract information meeting military data requirements and criteria


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability of linguist to supplement language capabilities with knowledge of professional fields, including medicine, logistics, communications, engineering, legal, etc. is highly preferred


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Shift work which may include the following:

- 8 hours per day, 5 days per week
- 10 hours per day, 4 days per week
- Similar shift schedules to those listed above
Work will be performed at the United States Government (USG) facilities at Hunter Army Air Field (HAAF) in Savannah, GA. Location of performance is contingent upon customer requirements and favorable MADO access
