Java / J2EE / Angular Developer (Full Stack Developer)


The position is a part of the USPS PostalOne! Application development team, which is responsible for developing and maintaining applications to support the business functions of the organization. 

A full stack developer is someone who has both front end as well as backend knowledge. They are well versed with programming languages needed for client side development. They know how to write back end applications and APIs that power the application. They can work with databases, implement complex business rules in middle tier and they can also handle any needed test activities. Basically, they are comfortable working on all tiers of application development involving various technologies.

  • The primary responsibilities of this position include:
  • Requirements gathering, design, development, testing and documentation
  • Develop end-to-end designs for the web interfaces, reporting and analysis components of projects
  • Provide advice and guidance on appropriate applications, reports and analysis architecture
  • Develop web portals, applications and other user interface components to facilitate the user interface to Business data.
  • Implement web applications using J2EE technologies and open source frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, JPA, Maven.
  • Participate in project work groups with Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders to understand data specific needs;
  • Provide production deployment and production support as needed.
  • Candidate will be responsible for analyzing and converting business requirements to technical requirements, followed by designing and implementing the solutions.
  • Candidate will be involved in all aspects of the software development life cycle and demonstrate abilities to learn both the business processes, as well as, new and existing technologies.
  • Candidate will develop and maintain applications using Java, J2EE technologies, implement complex business logic on server side tier, develop REST API’s, Services and MVC applications.
  • Candidate will provide software system testing support, verification of code and certification that all deliverables meet customer requirements and are free of software defects and/or bugs across the systems development life cycle (SDLC). 
  • Candidate must have experience using a software defect management tool, including HP’s Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and Agile User Story management tools, such as, VersionOne.
  • Candidate will work in an Agile team environment, but must be able to produce with minimal supervision.


  • Degree from an accredited college or university in a technical field (engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related field of study) plus at least 5 years of professional service, or an equivalent combination of education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • At least 3+ years of development experience with Java, JEE/J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring Security, JPA
  • Experienced with developing RESTful API’s, JSON
  • Experienced developing asynchronous applications using JMS or other messaging frameworks.
  • Databases, including relational databases such as Oracle and MySQL
  • Experience with common developer tools GIT, Eclipse, Maven
  • Oracle/Relational database experience to include knowledge of queries and SQL.
  • Strong programming/development and coding skills
  • Detail oriented with strong problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal & written)
  • An ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting


  • Experience with React.js or Angular.js
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with Open-Source Cloud-based technologies or developing Cloud Native applications.
  • A thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Knowledge of US Postal Service system is a plus


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
