Instructional Systems Designer


Job Description:

The customer is interested in IT Modernization efforts and Change Management/Training. This effort will involve training and facilitating changes for employees impacted by IT modernization efforts, evolve workforce to 21st Century skillsets and work practices, and enable the workforce to drive successful IT Modernization efforts going forward utilizing in-house talent.


The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) is responsible for providing highest level of learning and development expertise and guidance to the delivery team and stakeholders. The ISD conducts training analysis in coordination with all stakeholders, designs and develops training curricula and learning content of all types, including but not limited to Instructor-Led Training; interactive, web-based training; training delivered through Learning Management Systems (LMS); blended learning solutions; and learning solutions which implement innovative learning strategies and technologies. The ISD designs and develops multimedia/web storyboards and works with stakeholders and the media team to validate the developed materials.  The ISD measures and evaluates effectiveness of training. For this effort, the ISD will also work with stakeholders to develop innovative approaches for implementing cultural changes and distributing training/information.


Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent and eight (8) years of relevant experience. Experience in lieu of degree may be considered.


Required Skills:

  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain Public Trust

  • Knowledge and understanding of Bloom’s Taxonomy

  • Experience with the ADDIE Instructional Systems Design model

  • Ability to work with a team or individually without close supervision

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills

  • Experience using Microsoft Office software applications

  • Experience with curriculum design/development and learning solutions

  • Ability to demonstrate application of cognitive science and human factors that apply to the design of virtual training

  • Ability to develop solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation.

  • Experience in analysis and evaluation of learning content


Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Agile ISD development

  • Experience developing design documents for a variety of learning content types

  • Experience leveraging new technologies or approaches to increase learner engagement

  • Ability to increase learner engagement through the creation of appropriate interactions, activities, and exercises


Clearance Requirement:

  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.
