Information Systems Security Officer

The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)provides cybersecurity SME support to information Technology (IT) and systemsecurity issues affecting the customer mission by implementing security practices,policies and technologies. The ISSO is responsible for ensuring theappropriate operational security posture is maintained for an information systemand as such, works in close collaboration with the Information SystemsSecurity Manager (ISSM) and Information System Owner (ISO).  TheISSO also provides SME support to security validation site visits and augmentIG for inspection of Agency unit's and organizations performing SAPmissions. 

Duties may include: (may be modified withconcurrence of the Contracting Officer and contractor Program Manager) 

• Support Risk Managed Framework (RMF) processesunder SAP and SCI regulatory guidance. 
• Maintain operational security posture for aprogram or information system. 
• Perform vulnerability/risk assessment analysisto support assessment and authorizations. 
• Create, update and maintain procedures forsecure operation of IT assets. 
• Conduct evaluation and analysis of softwareintended for usage on secure IT assets. 
• Conduct auditing of secure IT assets; Investigateand report on classified messaging incidents. 
• Prepare and review documentation to include SystemSecurity Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports (RARs), Plan
of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and Security ControlTraceability Matrices (SCTMs), and Configuration Management. 
• Ensure security policies, standards, andprocedures are enforced. 
• Responsible for classification management, systemclassified document control, and classified media control; Clearing, purging,declassifying, and releasing system memory, media, and output. 
• Evaluate information security systems and workingparameters for hardware/software compatibility. 

Requirements:
• Familiarity with network and information systemsecurity principles and test practices 
• Previous experience controlling, labeling, virusscanning, and appropriately transferring data (upload/download)
between information systems at varying classification levels 
• Must have an in-depth understanding of DISA STIGS, SSR and NSA implementationguides. 
• Able to articulate information system securityrelated issues to program management, utilizing proven communicationskills, both oral and written. 
• Maintains security certifications and skill setrequired under the JSIG and AF Intelligence Community Guidance 
• Understanding and experience implementingguidance complaint with DoDM 5205.07 Vols 1-4 and DoDM 5105.21
Vols 1-3. 
• Demonstrate understanding of DoDDs and DoDMs;ICDs; JSIG and the RMG; CNSS policies; AF SAPNP; AFIs 
• Familiarity with applicable DoD and AF policies,procedures and operating instructions related to information
technology, cybersecurity and information management. 
• Build rapport with military, civilian, andcontractors at all levels 
• Requires travel within the organizationalgeographic Area of Responsibility (AOR) (note - could be
extensive, and will include both air and groundtransportation) 

Experience:   
• 5+ years providing security support in SCI& SAP environments; recent experience within the last 3 years 
• Minimum 5 years experience supporting amulti-level classified environment consisting of SCI and SAP activities 

Education: 
• Bachelors degree in a related area or equivalentexperience (4 years) or 5 - 7 years related cybersecurity experience 

Certifications:  
• Security + certification 

Security Clearance:  
•    Current Top Secret Clearance with SCIEligibility 
•    Eligibility for access to SpecialAccess Program Information 
•    Willingness to submit to aCounterintelligence polygraph 

Other Requirements:  
•    Must be familiar with securitypolicy/manuals and the appropriate DCIDs/JAFANs and other guiding policy documents. 
•    Must have the ability to work ina dynamic environment and effectively interact with numerous DOD,military/civilian personnel and industry partners  
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office(Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)  
•    Possess a high degree oforiginality, creativity, initiative requiring minimal supervision  
•    Willingness to travel within theorganizational geographic Area of Responsibility (AOR) (note - could beextensive, and will include both air and ground transportation) 


Qualifications

Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent and five to seven years related experience.
