Responsibilities

Perspecta provides engineering, management, and operational support services to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection on a Data Center Support Services (DCSS) contract supporting the (CBP) Enterprise Data Management & Engineering (EDME) Division. EDME provides innovative Information Technology (IT) services and solutions.  Perspecta performs technical support services for CBP in the following principle technical areas Business Continuity Planning, Middleware Infrastructure Support, Windows Support Group, and Common Enterprise Technology Integration.   To support this important effort, we are seeking an Information Systems Security Officer.

The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) will support multiple systems within a large federal government agency.  Candidate should have 3-10 years in IT with a background in technology and a strong history of secure technical implementations. Additionally, the candidate should have experience working with security compliance and associated industry/government standards. Candidate will work closely with a supportive and talented team of ISSOs supporting multiple agency systems. Candidate must possess a current Security Certification at level 2 of the 8570.

Provides technical and programmatic Information Assurance Services to internal and external customers in support of network and information security systems. Designs, develops and implements security requirements within an organization’s business processes. Prepares documentation from information obtained from customer using accepted guidelines such as RMF (Risk Management Framework). Prepares test plans. Provides assessment and authorization (A&A) support in the development of security and contingency plans and conducts complex risk and vulnerability assessments. Analyzes policies and procedures against Federal laws and regulations and provides recommendations for closing gaps. Develops and completes system security plans and contingency plans. Recommends system enhancements to improve security deficiencies.

Develops, tests and integrates computer and network security tools. Secures system configurations and installs security tools, scans systems in order to determine compliancy and report results and evaluates products and various aspects of system administration. Conducts security program audits and develops solutions to lessen identified risks. Develops strategies to comply with privacy, risk management, and e-authentication requirements. Provides information assurance support for the development and implementation of security architectures to meet new and evolving security requirements. Evaluates, develops and enhances security requirements, policy and tools. Provides assistance in computer incident investigations. Performs vulnerability assessments including development of risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

  • Requires 5 to 8 years overall IT experience with BS/BA or 3 to 5 years with MS/MA or 0 to 2 years with PhD.  Bachelor of Science (BS) can be substituted with an additional 4 years of related experience.
  • 3-10 years of specific cybersecurity oversight and analysis experience and a B.S. degree. 
  • Current Security Certification at level 2 of the 8570.
  • Minimum of 3+ years specific experience with NIST 800-53 policies.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to state messages in a clear and concise manner over any form of communication.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and re-prioritize work in a fast paced environment
  • Experience in engineering IT systems (RedHat, Windows), as well as working knowledge of current technologies.
  • Ability to learn an application environment in order to update or create supported security documentation.
  • The candidate will perform all tasks related to perform a system Certification and Accreditation and assuring the system is compliant with all required security controls as defined by agency policies.
  • The candidate will review system configurations to ensure they are in accordance with agency hardening guidelines.
  • The candidate will review all proposed change requests related to system design / configuration and perform security impact analysis.
  • The candidate will review monthly vulnerability scan reports and track and address weaknesses in POA&Ms as needed.
  • US Citizenship and eligibility to obtain DHS Public Trust Clearance.
  • Previous work experience with DHS and current DHS Public Trust Clearance is desired.
