INFORMATION SECURITY ENGINEER, SR PRINCIPAL w/TS/SCI Poly (Fairfax)

Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
 
Provides expert level consultation and technical services on all aspects of Information Security. Prepares in-depth studies and analyses. Manages major information security efforts. Manages large-scale programs of national or international scope. Maintains senior affiliations with national and international organizations associated with information security.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Manages security systems, and analyzes potential threats and vulnerabilities to client systems.
 
Oversees technical incident response and remediation activities for client environments.
 
Provides security analysis and consultation services for product, system and network architecture designs.

Analyzes network traffic and alerts to assess, prioritize and differentiate between potential intrusion attempts and false alarms.

Launches and tracks investigations to resolution.

Composes and sends alert notifications.

Analyzes and reviews security findings and data. 
 
Publishes reports and keeps metrics for client systems.

Identifies trends and root causes of system failures or vulnerabilities.

Maintains vendor and trusted partner relationships.

Develops tools for operational use and analyzes current threats to information security and systems.
 
Responsible for providing technical leadership focused on information security architecture.
 
Performs security research, analysis, and design for all client computing systems and the network infrastructure.
 
Responsible for the prevention, detection, investigation and response with respect to security threats and attacks.  
 
Responsible for managing security alerts, events, and security incidents, including forensic analysis.
 
Researches, designs, develops and implements monitoring of and response and administration of a variety of network security and remote access service.
 
Configures and validates secure systems and tests security products and systems to detect security weakness.
 
Contributes consulting (risk analysis) and project support in the area of information security to IT infrastructure and division computing projects as needed to support new business requirements.
 
Represents the organization’s technical security interests with partners, suppliers, industry associations, and government entities to ensure the bi-directional flow of technical information and best practices in the area of information security.
 
Monitors trends in information technology and security that could have an impact on the security of the organization’s products, processes, infrastructure, or customers.


Directs and supervises the work of other technical security professionals

 
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
 
This position typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent and 12 to 15 years related experience; Master's degree or doctorate in field mathematics, telecommunications, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science is preferred.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Ability to Obtain DoD 8570.01/DOD 8140 IAM/IAT Level II certifications
 
Knowledge of DIACAP, RMF, DoD C&A processes, DoD 8500 (Cyber security) series and Common Criteria
 
Possess excellent briefing and technical writing skills.
 
Leadership skills – demonstrated ability to manage a small team of technical security professionals
 
DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS: 

Security certifications: CompTIA Security+, CISM, CISSP, CCIP, CCII
 
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Must have an active Top Secret level security clearance (TS/SCI) with Poly
