Industrial Photographer

For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have an opening for an Industrial Photographer. You will utilize advanced photographic techniques to capture a range of scientific and technical subject matter for use in print, web, and social media applications. This position is in the Technical Information Department.

Essential Duties
- Create a wide range of images highlighting scientific and technical research; staff; laboratory and engineering equipment and facilities; may include documenting special events.
- Work with multiple organizations or programmatic contacts to establish scope of assignments.
- Responsible for maintaining consistent digital asset management system and timely uploading of edited photos tagged for easy retrieval.
- Work with high-quality cameras and lighting equipment, along with high-end computers with industry standard software.
- Perform advanced photography techniques to capture subject matter and post-process images for use in online and print media.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments; comfortable working at elevated heights and ability to work with custom lighting and effects.
- Provide advanced technical guidance and establish quantity and quality standards for the Technical Information Department and its LLNL customers.
- Ability to multi-task and work within time and budget constraints.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Photography or relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and significant related experience.
- Significant experience performing highly advanced photographic tasks including complex, specialized photographic assignments.
- Advanced knowledge of computer hardware/software and photo equipment including Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
- Experience setting work priorities and scheduling work assignments; demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and work requests; ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Advanced organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy and follow through.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to use tact, diplomacy, and discretion when dealing with customers.
- Experience using and overseeing a digital asset management system.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience using Canon camera and lenses.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
