I&W Systems Engineer Technical Specialist

Responsibilities:

This position will serve as a member of the I&W ESE SETA team.  The contract is seeking a talented; customer focused senior Indications and Warning engineer with threat and mission operations experience. Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development. Designs interfaces and brings system elements together so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements. Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with multi-discipline engineering teams to develop lower level detailed requirements. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation. Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will support teams coordinating, supporting and assessing requirements, CONOPs and architecture products,  assessing system schedule and risks, supporting test and verification strategy and system integration of new initiatives in support of expanded mission capabilities.
  • The selected candidate will have the aptitude to assess processes and create efficiencies continuously, and may lead I&W related projects. 
  • The selected candidate will have frequent client interactions, and support system and mission strategy development across the various offices. 
  • Due to the broad nature of the ESE team workload, the selected candidate should have knowledge in I&W systems and experience with national systems. 
  • The candidate will support various system readiness events and independent review teams and is required to have a strong systems engineering background. 
  • The candidate will interact with multiple Acquisition Offices (AOs) and facilitate risk and action closure with Acquisition Offices and users, and support technical consultation, meeting coordination, and support to recommendation briefings.  
Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • Requires 10 to 12 years with BS/BA or 8 to 10 years with MS/MA or 5 to 7 years with PhD.
  • 10-14 years’ experience with space/ground systems and systems engineering
  • BS in engineering, physics or related technical degree-Integration and Closure experience with in overall customer domain, Tech Insertion experience.
  • Strong business acumen; ability to relate professionally inside the work environment
  • The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, leadership abilities, organization, have an ability to prioritize their time, and understand the value of providing strong customer service.
  • Fully embrace mentoring and development of junior personnel, and a commitment to continuous learning
  • Detailed knowledge of I&W systems and overall space and ground architecture
  • Threat and mission operations experience 
  • Expertise in mission technical capabilities and system performance analysis and assessment
  • Experience with Mission Planning, Control or Processing functions in support of space and ground architecture
  • Experience identifying user & enterprise needs/requirements and gap identification, analysis and assessment
  • Experience in supporting Requirements Engineering, CONOPs development, and system integration to
  • accommodate the End to End I&W Systems Engineering.
  • Commitment to recognize, understand, respect and operate effectively within various SETA, FFRDC, and
  • Government lines of authority
  • Must have an active TS/SCI, the ability to pass a poly, and be able to successfully crossover with the supported client.

Strongly Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with overall customer, technical familiarity with one or more GEOINT, SIGINT or COMM systems and subsystems, including sensor knowledge.
  • Ability to work for specific IC customer and familiarity with that customer’s processes and organization. 
  • Certified in one or more of the following: SAFe, ITIL, PMI/PMP, INCOSE.
