Job Description
We have an opening for a Facility Coordinator to support the High Explosives Applications Facility (HEAF) and the HEAF Office Annex. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of approximately 550,000 Sq. Ft of offices, shops, scientific and research laboratories, and for de-conflicting service provider activities in your assigned facilities, coordinating facility modifications, and assisting in maintaining facility safety documentation.  This position is in the Weapons and Complex Integration (WCI) Facilities Operations and Support organization and reports to the HEAF Deputy Facility Manager.
Essential Duties
- Ensure facility heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical systems, fire protection systems, and alarm systems function reliably.
- Provide oversight and coordinate multiple concurrent tasks and priorities associated with facility related activities of the crafts, contractors, vendors, project managers, construction managers, Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) teams, Radioactive & Hazardous Waste Management, Environmental Functional Area, and residents.
- Monitor & respond to facility alarms and emergencies during normal business hours.
- Assist in the development, review, and implementation of procedures and plans including safety basis documentation, change control forms, Facility Safety Plans, Work Control Documents, roof access plans, and facility project plans.
- Ensure processes and procedures are in place to ensure that chemical and radioactive materials inventories remain within facility authorization limits and are consistent with ES&H Manual and Laboratory requirements.
- Perform facility point-of-contact (FPOC) responsibilities, oversee and evaluate activities performed in the facilities and concur on all service provider work conducted in the facility to ensure they are within the facility safety basis, that work conflicts are avoided, and hazards to occupants or to the facility are identified and controlled.
- Lead regular self-assessment inspections and walkthroughs, managing complex facility related deficiencies and issues to closure.
- Lead complex facility repair and modification projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the 339.2 Level
- Provide daily technical direction to facility coordinators, material handlers, and craft personnel to complete facility related activities, anticipating and reconciling support problems, including both technical and administrative factors affecting critical deadlines.
- Act as Facility Manager or Deputy Facility Manager in his or her absence.
- Use a high degree of independent discretion and judgment to lead highly complex large scale facility repair modification and capability recapitalization projects including planning, organizing, budgeting and leading multiple projects of significant scope.
- Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate technology or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Advanced skills and knowledge relevant to the safe operations and maintenance of HVAC, hydraulic, pneumatic, architectural, and facility utility systems found in office, shop, and laboratory facilities.
- Significant experience working with Chemical, Radiological, and Hazardous materials.
- Experience maintaining a complex multi-disciplinary research and development facility containing equipment and systems and coordinating facility resources such as the crafts, contractors, vendors, project managers, construction managers.
- Experience working independently as well as directing the work of others.
- Intermediate knowledge of Mac or PC computer operating systems and related software applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Advanced organizational, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written, sufficient to interact effectively with co-workers, facility tenants, managers, and other service providers.
In Addition at the 339.2 level
- Extensive experience initiating and coordinating work orders; assessing maintenance and repair needs, project planning, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Demonstrated highly advanced knowledge of ES&H and Security practices as they apply to specialized and hazard ranked facilities.
- Highly advanced project management, leadership, and organizational skills, including attention to detail, accuracy and follow through, critical thinking and independent decision-making skills, and ability to resolve highly complex technical problems.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at time of hire.

Note:  This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
