Hazardous Materials Administrator

Job Summary

The Hazardous Materials Administrator complies with allFederal, State, Local, County, and Navy environmental laws, policies andregulations. Assists in establishingguidelines to protect the health and safety of employees and the community byminimizing / eliminating the risk of environmental pollution.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Act as the liaison between Contractor workforce and forHAZMAT issues in daily routine.
  • Serve as contractor point of contact for collection ofcontractor generated HAZWASTE, preparation for shipping (i.e. palletizingetc.), preparation of all supporting paper for the disposal of contractorgenerated HAZWASTE in support of the Daily Flight Schedule.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledgeable of and have experience with applicable federal,DOD, state, and local regulations pertaining to the protection of theenvironment.
  • Possess knowledge of the principles, standards, andtechniques of safety and occupational health management and have experience inplanning, organizing, directing, operating, and evaluating a safety andoccupational health program for an entire command.

Experience & Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Six (6) years practical experience within the last ten yearsin the management, administration, or operation of a safety and occupationalhealth program or specialty, or experience in administrative work concernedwith safety and occupational health activities, including the development,implementation, and evaluation of related program function.
  • Minimum of two years practical experience within the lastfour years in the management, administration, or operation of a hazardousmaterials/waste program.
  • At least two years of experience shall include receiving,storage, distribution and handling, and disposal of all types of material thatmay be utilized at the Contractor’s job site.
  • At least one year experience in planning, organizing,directing, operating, and evaluating a HAZMAT program for an entire command.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Required to obtain a Govt. issued Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Shall possess or can qualify for a Secret Clearance asrequired.
  • Shall possess or can qualify for a U.S. states driverlicense.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • This classification activity is usually accomplished in ahangar/shop/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physicalmovements and postures normally associated with these activities.
  • The diversity of work conditions may range froman environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to anenvironment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes oftemperature; wind, rain, snow, ice, etc.
  • May be required to work in areas wherehigh noise hazards prevail.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
