Hardware Test Engineer

Test Engineer.

Actively participates in the coordination of all necessary engineering actions, resource planning, and scheduling required to control and maintain a test bed environment. This includes, but is not limited to, establishing test bed requirements, specifications, development environments, environment upgrades, test bed validation, test bed repair, and test bed operation.
Defines, documents, analyzes, performs, and interprets developmental tests for new and/or modified products or product components.
Investigates and resolves operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel.
Provides technical support and advice to other engineering groups.
Guides and directs lower level personnel on the set-up and performance of tests.
Acts as liaison with outside suppliers in establishing or modifying specifications for purchased items.
Devises and applies testing procedures for parts or sub-assemblies received from outside vendors.
Participates in the development, maintenance and refinement of internal quality control and reliability programs. Familiarity with MIL-STD-810.
Assist in the review of proposals resulting from formal solicitations and serve as an adviser to source selection activities, as needed.
Required Skills
• Bachelors degree with 5+ years of experience in Hardware Testing. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Experience testing high power high rate discharge battery technology and pulse power energy storage systems.
• Experience setting up laboratory/test bed and developing laboratory procedures/SOPs.
• Experience testing electronics and modeling of wide band-gap converters, such as SiC or GaAs.
• Familiarity with Army's testing procedures and test report writing.
• Knowledge of "regenerative" programmable load banks
• Experience with AC and DC power, and power conversion. Specifically, 1 & 3 phase AC - theory, design, & evaluation - DC-DC converters - high voltage (270 VDC or higher) operational, evaluation, design, and/or safety experience.
• Experience using test equipment such as load banks, power sources, environmental chambers, oscilloscopes, NI DAQs, battery cyclers (Arbin/Maccor), and/or impedance analyzer.
• Knowledge of Matlab and Labview.
• Familiarity with electrical safety and applicable regulations/policies.
• DoD Secret clearance
Desired Skills
• Desired experience with simulation, design, and/or testing with Army platforms or electrical auxiliary components.
• Software experience in the following: Simulink, CANbus, SMbus, PCB printer software such as Eagle, OrCAD, and SolidWorks

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Normal office setting, therefore the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking. Use of hands to operate computer equipment. Frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
