Hardware Integration & Design Engineer

Description:
Leidos Defense and Intelligence Group is currently seeking a savvy Hardware Engineer to support our DISA customer on the Joint Regional Security Stack (JRSS) program.  This position is located at Ft Meade, MD and will require on site presence with a possible opportunity to telecommute part-time.
 
About the program...the JRSS is an Information Technology (IT) system comprised of approx. 20 equipment racks of equipment. To be successful in this role, you will need to have knowledge and hands on experience with IT hardware devices to include routers, switches, firewalls, passive devices such as ArcSight, and Windows and Redhat servers/appliances. You must also have experience with operating systems, maintenance and service contracts and licenses, and IT vendors is required in order to maintain and update a comprehensive database. 
 
Additionally, you need to have adherence to good engineering practices to include participation in engineering review boards, systems design reviews and documentation is required for this position. The JRSS is a complex system of systems that brings over 50 capabilities and the hardware supporting these capabilities and understanding their design and implementation is crucial.
 
We are ideally seeking an individual who has worked in the IT field for a minimum of 5 – 7 years with direct hands on experience taking design requirements and translating those system requirements into identifying suitable hardware platforms. Coupled with the hardware design and integration the successful candidate will also be responsible for routinely updating the hardware CM baseline, licenses, working closely with Tier 3 engineering and the Implementation, Test and Acceptance team.
 

 

Qualifications:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
 
  • B.S. in Engineering or Technology discipline
  • 5-7 years of practical, related work experience.
  • Military experience
  • Industry experience
**Commensurate Education or Work experience will be considered

 

Preferred Experience:

  •  IT hardware design/integration
  • Tracking and inventory of devices, licenses, operating systems
  • Industry tools – Visio, ITSM Remedy, SolarWinds, AutoCad, CMDB
  • You must hold an ACTIVE US Secret Security Clearance to be eligible for this position.
  • The position is located at a US Government facility. Limited Telework may be available
  • Travel is required for this position on a quarterly basis at most. (no more than 10%)
