GN&C Test Engineer

Job Description

ASRC Space & Defense, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal Holding Company, seeks a GN&C Test Engineer to join our team supporting the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program at Hill AFB in Ogden, UT. In this role, you will use your engineering knowledge and best practices to perform verification and validation of Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) systems, subsystems, and software.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform IV&V of the GN&C for GBSD, including integration of 3-DOF/6-DOF aero models, linear stability analysis, navigation error and accuracy analysis, payload deployment analysis, and staging assessments
  • Assess vehicle and mission performance and trajectory requirements for adequacy and consistency
  • Contribute to test and evaluation of guidance, navigation and control models and tools, environmental, performance, and radiation testing of sensors, gyros, accelerometers, and electronics, and HIL testing of software and components

 

Requirements:

10+ years of experience with Guidance, Navigation and Controls (GN&C) / avionics for aerospace systems to include:

  • Knowledge of embedded software development and hardware/software integration
  • Matlab, Simulink and programming in C/C++
    • Implementing and exercising GN&C algorithms on embedded systems
    • Stability analysis and Kalman filtering
  • Test and evaluation
    • Design of experiments, test planning, data reduction and analysis, test reporting
    • Environmental testing of electronic components and sensors, gyros, accelerometers
    • Functional testing with hardware in the loop
    • System performance during ground and flight test
    • Suitability and effectiveness during operational testing
  • Simulation and analysis
    • Physics-based models of gyros and accelerometers
    • GN&C trajectory analysis including 3- and 6-DOF tools to simulate launch and flight
    • Multi-state launch vehicles including modeling and simulation of pneumatic and hydraulic actuated systems, staging recovery, and open loop control
    • Multi-payload deployment including accuracy analysis and payload re-contact/control
BS/MS/PhD in math, physics or engineering
Excellent writing and presentation skills
DOD Secret Clearance (required), Top Secret (preferred)
